The recent decade has seen the faith of Islam, with its criticisms and celebrations, pushed to the front of public discussion. The remarkable program, Live at the 92nd Street Y, has brought in two incredible minds to discuss some of the major issues that concern Islam and its place in contemporary society. Best-selling author Irshad Manji, along with politician and author Ayaan Hirsi Ali, conduct an engaging and thought-provoking discussion about what is needed to help Islam keep up with modern times.
Irshad Manji is the best-selling author of The Trouble with Islam Today: A Muslim's Call for Reform in Her Faith. Manji has been called by The New York Times "Osama bin Laden's worst nightmare". The winner of Oprah Winfrey's first annual 'Chutzpah Award', Manji is currently a visiting fellow at Yale University and is producing a feature film about what there is to love within Islam.
Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the author of The Caged Virgin: An Emancipation Proclamation for Women and Islam, advocates the need for democratic governments to commit to defending the human rights of women in the Islamic world. Ali is a Dutch feminist and politician. She is a prominent (and often controversial) author, film maker, and critic of Islam.

Very well informed. Both ladies start with similar backrounds take different paths and end up in similar positions. Pleasant and exciting speakers. Also humorous. Shows how politics and agendas have tainted a religion. HIGHLY RECCOMEND!
"Two amazingly courageous women!!"
Listen and be inspired.
I haven't heard of Irshad Manji before and I'm glad to have not been introduced now.
Ayaan Hirsi Ali is an inspiration and one of the people whose disent may bring about a reformation for Islam. I hope...
