Publisher's summary

Fr. Robert Barron's comprehensive work goes straight to the core of the Catholic faith. He first examines the foundations of Christ's incarnation, life and ministry, and then works through the essentials of the Catholic tradition: from sacraments, worship and prayer, to Mary and the saints, and on to salvation, heaven and hell. Throughout this epic journey, Fr. Barron uses art, literature, personal stories, Scripture, theology, philosophy and history to present a complete picture of the Church to the world.

A Better Understanding of My Faith

Catholicism gave me insight into my faith, and left me the desire to go further. Bishop Barron gave me an appreciation for being Catholic, and a source to come back to to refresh my enthusiasm to explore deeper.

A "Universal" text for ALL Christians

Bishop Robert Barron provides a great guide to Christianity in this text, regardless of the denomination of the reader. Bishop Barron has a pleasant delivery and I look forward to my second listen of this work.

Well done

If you could sum up Catholicism in three words, what would they be?

Debated whether even to get this book or not - NOT a fan of EWTN and but saw part of one episode on PBS and was impressed. Fr Barron presents an even handed overview of Catholic theology full of lively details and thoughtful insight. Only quibble is with his minimal mention of collegiality within the Church.

Who was your favorite character and why?

What does Robert Barron bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Fr. Barron's narration is very good - a lot of authors are poor narrators but not the case here.

Any additional comments?

The art work, churches, etc discussed in the book are for the most part, are commonly recognized, i.e. Sistine Chapel, and easy to visualize while listening.

Absolutely Amazing.

As a Candidate preparing for acceptance to the Church on Easter, this book could not have been better to reaffirm by choice. Bishop Barren reaches new depths of richness in the Catholic Tradition and it’s still clear he’s only scratching the surface. Beautiful book.

Truly inspiring

I loved listening to this book. As a catholic with many doubts, it's inspiring and comforting to know that so much intellectual prowess is behind "proving" the truth about everything we are taught about Jesus.

An Excellent Overview

I've recently binged Bishop Barrons youtube videos and podcasts, which I throughly enjoyed. Since I couldn't get ahold of the film series, I got the book, and I'm glad I did. Its a great overview, and Bishop is a practiced and engaging speaker. My only complaint is that I wanted more depth, but this is a great introduction to the topic of Catholicism.
