Publisher's summary

What if you could cultivate the mind of a bodhisattva -- one who has dedicated one's life to the benefit of others? According to Pema Chödrön, best-selling author and American-born Buddhist nun, you can. On Bodhisattva Mind, she examines sheshin, or "guarding alertness", and the other qualities of mind we need to develop on the path to enlightenment. "We all have a consciousness that knows what helps and what causes harm," says Ani Pema. "With this same ability, we can 'tame our minds', and extricate ourselves from suffering."

A practicum of insights and meditations from this cherished teacher, Bodhisattva Mind shows us how to connect with the spacious, clear, unbiased nature of our minds and experience the joy of complete freedom.

Practical and valuable for "young" bodhisattvas.

I have listened 3 times so far. This is my first experience with a live recording of Pema Chodron. She is incredibly gracious and genuine. I am encouraged and am more confident that I am meant for this journey. I will listen again when I find one of the other translations of the original teachings. I will keep this in my library as a reference and reminder for many years.

Straightforward and profound

Pema addresses concepts that appear so obvious and simple yet at the same are incredibly difficult to actually implement and breaks them down in an incredibly loving and profound way.

First Understanding of Buddhism

This recording was my first introduction to Buddhism. Pema Chodron is the best first teacher anyone could ask for. Her explanations are simple yet deep and based on experiences that I could relate to. She is funny and easy to listen to. I'm now listening to this recording for the second time.
I took a Mediation 101 class last month and this is the perect next step in my practice. I highly recommend it and plan to listen to more of Pema Chodron's other works.

Om Svasti

This book was recommended by my teacher and it did not disappoint. Challenging the listener to deepen their practice, Shantideva's teachings are vast and deep. Pema helped me, as a westerner, to relate. Plus plenty of intelligent humor. Highly recommend.

Awesome

My first book by Pema Chodron and I am so happy I have finally listened to one.

I have nearly finished Noble Heart by Pema as well which I bought after listening to this Bodhisattva Mind book. Very good teacher. Has helped myself discover new ways to look at different Buddhist meditation practices. And I will for sure buy more books in the future.

Pema has a great humour with a calmness when explaining the dharma. So thank you Pema for your teachings.

For myself in my journey of study and practice, the one main thing Pema taught me straight away was how important it is to have a calm mind. From the calm mind, clarity arises with insight and also the heart will open.

Pema is a true Gem.

Brave, Tender, Heart = Spiritual Warrior

Thank you for changing my life for the better Pema Chodron. Both you and Chogyam Trungpa are priceless.

Non stop wisdom, love it!

Pema just came into my life, did not know her before. Her way of teaching with humbleness and sense of humor gets to my heart. Completely recommend!!!
