Publisher's summary

Can reincarnation change one’s destiny?

Or does one always walk on the same path irrespective of a new start?

After reincarnating in his younger self, Li Wei wants to use the knowledge of the future to live a carefree life as a lazy immortal.

But every new path taken is a path not yet explored.

And every path not yet explored has a chance to be a perilous path.

Walking on such a path, Li Wei has to forge his own way with a unique body cultivation method and fix his dantian to cultivate qi and learn alchemy.

But when a choice comes that could either save his whole clan or destroy it, what choice will Li Wei make?

Path of Demons?

Path of Righteousness?

Or a third path not known?

This book contains unique body cultivation, array crafting, alchemy, and slapping bad guys with overpowered skills. I almost forgot to tell you, the novel also contains a system!

I love me a good do over story!

I’ve always wished for it and this story does a great job at the reincarnation tale. Very well done, and while I don’t agree with the MC’s goal, I do like the direction that the reluctant hero finds himself pushed. Well done, and Steve did a fine narration job as well!!

Great story

I received a free copy to leave an unbiased review. If you are going to read this, I recommend you expect an info dump. There is so much information that it takes a bit to sort out. It is worth it the story is good and I want book 2 now.

princess bride

good story and good performance. My only dislike of this story is that the MC really reminds me of the poison guy from the princess bride with how often he says inconceivable

Enjoyable story marred by narration.

Really enjoyed the story. Although it contained a lot of the typical wuxia style tropes, I still found the story to be engaging and entertaining. The only issue that I had may have been purely because it was in audiobook format and may not have been as noticeable in print, which was the over use/repetition of certain words and phrases ( such as: referring to the servant girl as lass and the phrase courting death) In print, it may not have been as noticeable, but with it being narrated the repeated use of these words and phrases quickly became grating. I will definitely be continuing the series, but likely will be reading them instead.

Strong, intriguing start to a series

Strongly written characters, even marginal villains. Every character behaves consistently, with well-considered and expressed motivations. Even the annoying ones. Yes, I'm looking at you, Fei-ar!
Protagonist is a reasonably flawed person, even though he's as typically OP as any cultivation story tends to be. Character growth includes emotional maturity, not just "eat x pills and herbs, become super op" as many cultivation series devolve into. His overconfidence costs him, just as it does for villains.
Although possibly a bit over-explanatory in regards to actual cultivation scenes, the concepts are well-fleshed and internally consistent.
Although I'm not a huge fan of vulgarity, any expressed in this story tends to come from the haughty villains, as expected. But the protagonist is not some unreasonable paragon, either. As is typical in cultivation stories, the "might makes right" attitude is prevalent throughout the story, lending authenticity to the character's struggle to regain lost powers.
Overall, hoping to see more strong plot and character development as the series progresses. The one criticism is that in the beginning, the narration slightly takes away from plot. The narrator seems a bit TOO enthusiastic, sometimes over-emphasizing to the point of breathlessness. As the story goes on, this improves, though, as you get used to the narrator and as he seems to hit his stride.

Edit: My review has a note that I received this title for free. This is NOT the case. I spent a credit to buy it, which we all know costs as much as a paperback novel would. I don't know why it claims it's for free,

three things that I didn't like about this book

The 1st is that everybody is a dick except for the servant. The 2nd is that he says lass and inconceivable too much. Especially lass, it just throws me off. The 3rd is that the whole lazy Immortal thing just doesn't seem like part of the story really

Pretty good xianxia story

The story has some random lulls in it. But overall it’s a pretty solid xianxia story. Lots of cultivation stuff. Could use a good deal more action.
