Thoroughly enjoyed!

If you can't imagine Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer in the 19th Century Wild West, then let Andrew Joyce be your imagination! Joyce opens the novel with action that seldom lets up. We first meet Huck and Tom as young men who have signed up to go to war, joining the South in its cause. They soon go AWOL due to a bullet Tom takes but survives. The real adventure begins at that point and the story ends with Huck and Tom as old men whose world view has been altered by their experiences, first together, then individually, and then together again, when they happen to meet up in Redemption, Colorado, many years later. But giving no real spoilers here! Suffice it to say that Joyce develops our childhood friends into honorable men (you might say heroes) we can't help but love and admire. And he does so in a way that is both entertaining and educational. Narrator John McLoughlin performance is superb! His voice is perfect, the inflections just right in every way. John IS Huck, but he also manages to perform the voices of other characters such that I knew who was speaking at any given time. McLoughlin brought a fantastic story to life. I truly felt a part of the era, and was sorry when the story ended. I do not hesitate to highly recommend this audiobook, and hope to see another collaboration between Joyce and McLoughlin!
