Publisher's summary

The author of the “brazenly hilarious, tell-it-like-it-is first novel” (Oprah Daily) Queenie returns with another witty and insightful “treat” (Jesse Armstrong, creator of Succession) of a novel about the power of family—even when they seem like strangers.

If you could choose your family...you wouldn’t choose the Penningtons.

Dimple Pennington knows of her half-siblings, but she doesn’t really know them. Five people who don’t have anything in common except for faint memories of being driven through Brixton in their dad’s gold jeep, and some pretty complex abandonment issues. Dimple has bigger things to think about.

She’s thirty, and her life isn’t really going anywhere. An aspiring lifestyle influencer with a wayward boyfriend, Dimple’s life has shrunk to the size of a phone screen. And despite a small but loyal following, she’s never felt more alone in her life. That is, until a dramatic event brings her half-siblings—Nikisha, Danny, Lizzie, and Prynce—crashing back into her life. And when they’re all forced to reconnect with Cyril Pennington, the absent father they never really knew, things get even more complicated.

Vibrant and charming, People Person is “a way-out combination of family drama, madcap plot, and political edge” (Kirkus Reviews).

Loved this story about familial love

Loved this story. The bonds of family, especially siblings can be very strong even when there is a significant divide. Prince was my favorite character and I wish we heard more from Danny, but overall great book. Narration was excellent and I can’t wait to hear more from her.

So much to love!

I love this book and the narrator so much that after finishing this story, I immediately searched for other books written or read by each. The plot was unique with serious themes around relationships but also light-hearted. The narrator's voice is beautiful and she does a fantastic job of changing accents and voice register so that you can easily tell which character is speaking. I was entertained and invested in each character and would love to be part of their family! This book for me is about love and acceptance of yourself and others.

Another solid read by Candice Carty-Williams

Endearing cast of characters. If you like to follow the intertwined lives of people as they grow and learn together, similar to her first novel, Queenie, you'll like People Person as well. And the performance is top notch! Love the accents and personalities the narrator brings to the characters.

Great book

Loved the book and each of the characters! Loved how the siblings met up and stayed in touch and had each other's back after decades of not seeing each other. Especially loved the narrator! She was so awesome with each voice. I dont know how she kept up with which voice was who's but she had it right everytime. Great read

beautiful real characters

A story about 5 siblings and their relationship to their father who they didn't all know too well. I liked all the characters, they seemed genuine and the story was touching

Invested

I loved this story about the journey of these siblings. The narrator did an excellent job, I became so invested in each character, separately and all of them together.

Really really well written.

Nice Read

Overall it’s a nice semi slow read, I just wish we had more back stories on how they grew up.
