One of her best books.
This was one of Martha Keyes best books! It dealt with social issues as well as educational issues of the time period. The was romance and personal conflict. A clean book.

Great story, great history
This was one of her best. I so appreciated the work of the author and the reading of the narrator.

Award Winner, Indeed
This is an exceptional book and I can completely understand why it won a Whitney award. I’ve read quite a few of Martha Keyes books and I always enjoy them but this story was next-level. The complexities she addresses regarding the characters’ emotional turmoil, religious/moral questions over medical procedures, as well as the fear relating to an outbreak of disease — well researched and very well written. When I finished I just kept saying out loud, “That was such a good book!!”
Carolynne Henry does a beautiful job narrating as well. Her voice and accent were absolutely lovely to listen to.
