Publisher's summary

"Twisted friendships, toxic pasts and tangled motives—this is Sara Shepard doing what she does best!"—Ruth Ware, New York Times bestselling author

#1 New York Times bestselling author of Pretty Little Liars Sara Shepard's next adult novel follows a group of mothers living in a mysterious “mommune,” each of whom is running from something

When Lenna gets a call from her old friend Rhiannon, she is startled; Rhiannon disappeared years ago without a trace. But Lenna is even more startled to learn that Rhiannon has a son and that she lives off the grid with a group of women in a community called Halcyon. Rhiannon invites Lenna, a new mother herself, to join them. Why suffer the sleepless nights by yourself? It takes a village, after all.

Lenna decides to go and hopefully repair her relationship with Rhiannon, but as she drives into the desert and her cell service gets weaker, she becomes suspicious. Who are these women and why did Rhiannon invite her here? And that is before she learns about the community's rules (no outside phone calls, no questions about people’s pasts) and the padlock on the gate that leads out to the main road. But Lenna has other concerns, secrets from her past she is terrified will come out. When a newcomer arrives in the community, Lenna’s worst fears are confirmed—she was brought here for a reason.

Nowhere Like Home tackles themes of complicated friendships and trauma but all with Sara Shepard’s expert twists that you don’t see coming.

Critic reviews

"Nowhere Like Home is a wild, fast-paced ride through toxic friendships and new motherhood—and questionable choices involving both. Sara Shepard's latest thriller features an expertly crafted plot, an immersive and sinister desert setting, and a series of jaw-dropping twists, each more shocking than the last."—Carola Lovering, bestselling author of Tell Me Lies and Bye, Baby

“In true Pretty Little Liars fashion, there are several twists and turns that readers won’t see coming . . . A fun, unpredictable, and daring read.”Booklist

"Plenty of twists and turns, as well as some staggered narration—different voices, different time periods—keep the mystery moving...Fans of Shepard’s other books will be pleased."Kirkus

BP another amazing listen

Love the story; love the plot. Great writing but I honestly think if I would have had to read it, I wouldn't have been as interested. Brittany P. as narrator honestly makes the story.

I enjoyed the characters, nice build up, PERFECT narration. Does drag a little in a few spots. Kept me guessing.

She’s coming back for you

There’s always a character coming back after you in Sara Shepard’s books. I like how this book ends. I think it’s sweet the character ends up with a happily ever after despite all the crazy revenge. Still the ending leaves you wondering could there be more to the story? It’s a good book.

C- rating. Love both writer & narrator but this book fell so short for both

I was disappointed in the weirdly predictable but out of left field finale. No spoilers but it’s the equivalent to the killer being someone that was spoke of bb I’m in j like 2 times in the show. So random. Also, i really enjoyed 1/4 of book but then it got so cheesy, almost like diff writer finished. If it’s in plus, for free, listen to it!

Really enjoyed.

A lot of twists and turns. I liked hearing the different stories from each character and the great Brittany Pressley was perfection at narrating all. Definitely a great read.

OK story too believable narrator

The story was OK, it was what I expected. But the narrator had me give up at the middle. Although very believable, my ears just couldn't bear the shrilling hysteric voice of some of the characters

Annoying characters

Literally hated every single character in this story. They’re either cry babies, super needy, or just flat out stupid. So many unnecessary characters and stories that don’t lead to anything. Don’t waste your credit on this trash
