Publisher's summary

From the best-selling author of the Kavanagh Legends MMA series, Sarah Robinson's Not A Hero is an emotional stand-alone military romance where love battles trauma, and there can only be one victor.

Former marine Miles Kydd is trying to readjust to civilian life after ending his career and returning to his small hometown when he learned his father was diagnosed with a terminal illness. Once the town hero and star quarterback, Miles no longer feels like the man he was, or who he's expected to be - possibly because his demons have followed him home from Afghanistan.

Meeting Zoe Brooke, his father's live-in nurse, gives Miles the slightest glimmer of hope that he can still find happiness despite the dark secrets he holds inside. The chemistry between them is undeniable, and together, they are explosive - in more ways than one.

A helper at her core, Zoe is more than willing to care for Miles's heart, but not at the expense of her own, and she's not afraid to tell him that. She knows what having a painful past is like, and she wants to help him with his, if he'll let her.

Things get complicated fast when Miles realizes burying his secrets isn't actually the same as healing from them and if he wants the girl, he's going to have to tell her the truth - the one thing he can't do.

Warning: This audiobook is suggested for listeners who are 18+ years of age. The book contains graphic content, sensitive subject matters, and sexually explicit material.

I say hero

An emotional story dealing with loss, PTSD, guilt, broken heart, toxic relationships and how love can help turn things for the better, healing the mind and mending the heart. Both the H and h are struggling with issues each on their own, but I am glad they finally make things work together. Zoe is a strong woman and even though life dealt her quite a few hits, she is caring, loving. The way she helps Miles' father, Walter, over the years and especially in his last days is touching. It is easy to fall in love with Miles, he is honorable, sweet, strong, a hero. Love the relationship between Miles and his dad, their closeness brings Walter comfort in his last days. The strong bond between Miles and Tobin is a life saver for both, their friendship survives the war and I hope he will get his HEA too.
I like the voice of the narrator and despite the few technical glitches in editing, I enjoyed listening to the story, very pleasant tones.

Emotional, Raw and Steamy Romance!

This is an emotional, raw and steamy story about facing your fears and getting a second chance at life. Miles returns home from serving in the military broken, only to learn his father is dying. Zoe, is an old classmate of his, and is his fathers live-in nurse. She is so kind, and compassionate, a true caregiver to her very core. As they get reacquainted, their attraction and chemistry is hard to deny. The small town where they live wants to celebrate his service to the country, but Miles has secrets and guilt that eats away at him and he doesn't feel like a hero or worthy of anyone, especially Zoe. Zoe has her own past trauma that makes her able to understand Miles more than he knows, but doesn't know if she's strong enough to endure the pain of his rejection. This story is a roller-coaster of emotions that is so riveting, and breathtaking. Narrator Conner Goff did a good job bringing this story to life. He easily portrayed all the complex emotions from sadness, anger, and jealousy, to happiness, joy and passion, beautifully. I was a bit distracted by several production errors unfortunately. But despite that, I really enjoyed this story about survival, redemption, and finding true happiness and love.
