Publisher's summary

This book is for everyone who has a father. And for all those who know what it's like to long for a father's blessing: his approval, affection, and attention. It's for anyone who's ever longed to hear your dad say, "I love you. I'm so proud of you."

You may already know what it's like to live in the rays of such a blessing, to flourish in the marvelous light of a father's love. Yet, in this "fatherless generation", it's also likely you've never known the blessing of your earthly dad. The possibility of hearing the words "I love you, I'm proud of you" may be gone - washed away by your dad's death or distance or divorce or disinterest.

But here's the good news: Regardless of how amazing or absent, invested or disinterested, empowering or deflating your earthly father was or is, you do have a perfect Father. We see all throughout Scripture that God wants us to know him as Father and wants us to live under the waterfall of his blessing.

In Not Forsaken, Pastor Louie Giglio invites us to reframe our view of fatherhood by understanding that God is not simply the bigger version of our earthly dads; he is the perfect version of our earthly dads.

A great reminder of God as the perfect father!

I love Louie’s passion and energy in his writing and speaking. This message is one that we need to be reminded of constantly with the negative views the world sends us. You are loved by a perfect father and have been given everything you need to succeed spiritually in Him!

Great Idea but...

I like Louie's upbeat positive attitude and his preaching. It was right on the money most of the time. God is a good Father. However, it's difficult to follow someone's advice when they really haven't a clue about what it is like to overcome severe trauma and abuse at the hands of someone who is supposed to love you. If you haven't experienced the pain of complete abandonment how can you possibly tell me how to walk it out? If you have never seen a rainbow, how can you seriously tell me what it looks like? I know that he means well and his heart is in it. I agree that God is an awesome God who can and will change our lives but I think people need to stick to what they know. Many times in the book, hearing his positive experiences with his father, only reminded me of how different our experiences were. I never heard "Wow! I'm so proud of you" from either of my parents. I never had wonderful, memorable, heartfelt times with them. I have memories but most I'd rather forget. In fact many I've blocked. My blended family parents had experienced the death of a child and it made already broken people more harsh, cold, distant and violent. Alcohol and abuse flowed consistently in our homes. I have worked very hard with God and counselors to let go but it still pops up and I'm 60. I too have lost a child and I guarantee you that losing a parent or a sibling comes nowhere near. I would have never assumed that I could tell a parent how to walk that pain out before I did it myself. It's like telling an addict you understand. No you don't. You absolutely DO NOT! Besides everyone's experience being unique to their own circumstances, until someone has experienced that hole in their soul that they can feel the wind blow through, they have no right to claim that they do. We can empathize but to say 'just do this', when you never have, borders on arrogance. Now when someone like Joyce Meyer says she gets it, I believe her because she has walked that road. Or when Levi and Jennie Lusko talk about the loss of a child I know they can relate. If we truly want to help others then we need to stay in our own lane.
I liked the book but I'm already a spirit-filled Christian. I think if I had not already known the love of Our Father, the book would have hit the fireplace because it even made me that angry at times. Other than that, it was well written and heartfelt but then he is Louie Giglio😃

Life changing!

Thank you, Louie, for writing this! I cried...I had to take a pause or three...prayed a lot...I plan to listen again (especially the last couple of chapters). I am on the way to a new place of relationship with my Perfect Heavenly Father :)

A must read

I can definitely relate to all the stories in the book. I'm so honored to be loved by our heavenly Father and to be heir with Him through Jesus. This book touched on everything about our Father, Jesus and to be reminded that the moment we receive Him, His blood flows in our vein and have been given a new name. Praise God!

Really like how Louie reads his book

It's a great book. Follows the message series closely. My only problem with the book is, I heard the not forsaken series on a podcast. The book provides very similar content. It does add more than the Goliath book does.

Thank you Pastor Loui!!

Amazing message that exactly heralds the message Father God is currently leading and teaching me. Having just met Him as a Father though known Him as my God all my life... this is a huge blessing.

From the fatherless kid who has found a father in Jesus, thank you for this. Now that this book is finished, I can start it again.
