Publisher's summary

The product of 30 years of intensive research, The Twelfth Planet argues persuasively that humanity sprang from extraterrestrial forebears. Sitchin provides startling evidence of a superior race of beings who once inhabited the earth. You'll hear the story of how they traveled here from the stars and planted the genetic seed that would ultimately blossom into a remarkable species - the human being.

Interesting but Empty

I'm somewhat interested in this sort of thing but although he does a fairly decent job of uncovering history and giving an arguement for his ideas, there is very little 'evidence' given as to the planet itself.

Saying something exists based on ancient writings is one thing, but he didn't even mention a timetable of when we should expect it.

This reduces credibility. Everybody is saying 2012 but they said earlier dates too.

I liked the historical facts, but he reads a LOT into some of those facts and draws a lot of assumptions, which are mixed in with the actual facts, making it difficult to tell what is fact and what is Sitchin.

Thought Provoking

This book is both a scholarly work layering myth and religion with scientific information. It sounds perfectly logical and fascinating. Why not? After all, who alive can witness to the contrary? I enjoyed this book tremendously and hope Audible will bring forth more of Zecharia's books.

Good Stuff

I am not one to talk about books like these at work... However I think there is a lot of very good material that can be referenced. I am not religious so I don't need a creator nor do I care if we came from an ape or not. But this book takes a trip through time and brings up some very good questions that people that are in both Religious and Evolutionary beliefs like to ignore and do a subject change. This book has an answer, right now I am thinking about how I feel about it, it will take me a while to chew on it, because it is pretty... Wow.

I am glad I bought this book, I have listened to it a couple of times and took notes so I could do my own research on some of the tidbits mentioned here. If you are a hardcore bible thumper or evolutionist don't buy this book. I was a bible thumper in the early 90's so I have a solid background on that side of the house.

It would be hard for me to recommend this book to anyone, just because of the subject mater. I feel people in general are pretty much closed minded and will shutdown once it starts going off the map (and into space).

If you have read the book of Enoch and wish there was more to the story, my opinion is... this is where that story came from.

Interesting thesis, don't expect a story.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I was hoping for more. I find the Ancient Alien Theory fascinating, and there were moments of interest in this work, but no real narrative. This felt incomplete, more like a primer for more in depth works. I have not explored any other works by Sitchin, but perhaps The 12th Planet should be considered more of a companion work?

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The relationships outlined (and that's all they were: outlines) piqued my interest, and I wished to explore them further, but that was not to be. As everything else in this book, narratives were left hanging, and massive expanses of time were jumped to and fro, in the most jarring of ways.

Do you think The Twelfth Planet needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

The 12th Planet cannot stand on its own.

fascinating

recount of a good theory that interlink with a lot of missing pieces in our history I believe it should be taught in schools along the other theories

Perspectives

Listening to the story of creation and the correlation between the gods story and Bible’s book of Genesis provides an almost believable change in perspective. Seems like missing parts were added. I will definitely reread the book of Genesis. Thank you! Thought provoking!

Unique ideas.

Very interesting. I can't say I agree with the theories set forth but I enjoyed the book quite a bit.

an interesting take on the origins of people

This is an alternative explanation of the garden of eden and the origins of people and religions. This explanation makes just as much (non)sense as the old testament and this book is just as (un)provable. The only this explanation is that this explanation is more fun.

thought provoking

Only two problems, it's abridged and Audible only has one title. Gave me enough to send me doing my own research. Would definitely like to hear more by Sitchin.
