Publisher's Summary

Graham Hancock's multimillion best seller Fingerprints of the Gods remains an astonishing, deeply controversial, wide-ranging investigation of the mysteries of our past and the evidence for Earth's lost civilization. Twenty years on, Hancock returns with the sequel to his seminal work, filled with completely new scientific and archaeological evidence, which has only recently come to light....

Near the end of the last ice age, 12,800 years ago, a giant comet that had entered the solar system from deep space thousands of years earlier broke into multiple fragments. Some of these struck the Earth, causing a global cataclysm on a scale unseen since the extinction of the dinosaurs. At least eight of the fragments hit the North American ice cap while further fragments hit the Northern European ice cap. The impacts, from comet fragments a mile wide approaching at more than 60,000 miles an hour, generated huge amounts of heat that instantly liquidized millions of square kilometers of ice, destabilizing the Earth's crust and causing the global deluge that is remembered in myths all around the world.

A second series of impacts, equally devastating, causing further cataclysmic flooding, occurred 11,600 years ago - the exact date that Plato gave for the destruction and submergence of Atlantis. The evidence revealed in this book shows beyond reasonable doubt that an advanced civilization that flourished during the Ice Age was destroyed in the global cataclysms between 12,800 and 11,600 years ago. But there were survivors - known to later cultures by names such as "the Sages", "the Magicians", "the Shining Ones", and "the Mystery Teachers of Heaven". They travelled the world in their great ships, doing all in their power to keep the spark of civilization burning. They settled at key locations - Gobekli Tepe in Turkey, Baalbek in the Lebanon, Giza in Egypt, ancient Sumer, Mexico, Peru, and across the Pacific, where a huge pyramid has recently been discovered in Indonesia. Everywhere they went these "Magicians of the Gods" brought with them the memory of a time when mankind had fallen out of harmony with the universe and paid a heavy price. A memory and a warning to the future...for the comet that wrought such destruction between 12,800 and 11,600 years ago may not be done with us yet. Astronomers believe that a 20-mile-wide "dark" fragment of the original giant comet remains hidden within its debris stream and threatens the Earth. An astronomical message encoded at Gobekli Tepe and in the Sphinx and the pyramids of Egypt warns that the "Great Return" will occur in our time....

    "The wait was worth it!"
What did you love best about Magicians of the Gods?

The explanations though based on Hancock's research are given in such a way even if you do not agree you have a background enough to form your own regimen of research.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Magicians of the Gods?

I had never heard Hancock narrate anything. Received my pre-ordered audible early this morning and opened it up immediately. I was prepared to send the book back if the narration was "awful." It is not. I am more than half way through, wearing bluetooth device and barely getting anything done. I am mesmerized.

    Any additional comments?

I ordered a hard cover of this book in addition to the audible. It has not come yet. Looking forward to re-listening and reading these two together. Thank you Graham Hancock and Amazon.

    ""Brilliant" is an understatement."

This book is a masterpiece and should be required reading/listening for all college level students. Graham Hancock's voice and narration style is so good audible.com should ask him to narrate a book a month.

Graham delves into the origins of mankind like no other researcher. The depth and breadth of data disseminated is staggering.

What I find so compelling is that Graham is the real Indiana Jones. He is not an armchair researcher as I am. He is living my dream and goes to each site multiple times surveying and reporting his finindings to us.
Furthermore Graham's detailed descriptive style of writing allows my mind to create a perfect picture of the site. Coupled with Google Earth and Google Images, I'm able to immerse myself into the story and live vicariously in Graham's world.

Cudos Mr. Hancock, I anxiously await your next book.

    "Absolutely enthralling! And SUPERB narration!"

So often, when I listen to non-fiction (which I do, a lot) I will find my thoughts wandering away, and then notice after several minutes that I have missed a great deal of the chapter, as my mind wandered without my even noticing, and I just phased out the audio... With this book - NOT SO! This book is so entirely fascinating that it holds my interest completely, for much longer than any other non-fiction book I've listened to ("Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind" by Yuval Noah Harari is *almost* as good!)

It is a very rare author that does such a splendid job of narrating their own books (Seth Andrews, with his books "Sacred Cows" and "De-Converted," is one notable exception) But Graham really does a fantastic job. He is very pleasant to listen to, and one feels almost like you're having an (admittedly fairly one-sided) conversation with him.

The research that Graham has put into this work is incredible... but totally credible. He has done a great job of backing up his theories, clearly presented an enormous amount of information, all laid out very logically, like a combination of a fantastic teacher and an experienced trial lawyer. Really, superb. This is a book I will listen to again (and again) and will probably also have to pick up the hard copy as well. Excellent!

"Excellent, just the information I've been looking for. It is really a puzzle why our origins have been kept from us."

Thank Graham for searching out and revealing the history that's been deliberately hidden. One can only hope that those forces that are control now will have a change of heart.

    "World changing. A masterpiece"

Graham Hancock is a master in his explanations and execution of views throughout this amazing book. This is the single most important piece of modern day literature that has ever been written. Graham brings a perspective of ancient worlds and cultures that go beyond the realm of coincidence and into the world of absolute Logic. At the end of this brilliant work of art, you will be convinced of a lost civilization and their warnings left in stone of what is still to come.

    Any additional comments?

Extraordinary example of well thought out field-work-to-print and audio lesson for the explorer in each of us. . . As if a comprehensive multi-disciplinary university course sparing no details – With first rate notes, commentary, and interviews contained within the print and audio volumes. One only need add personal notes, reference web sites, and library support data to continue the work in this profound research. 'Difficult to put down or turn it off once started.

    "Good reading"

Great book. i agree whole heartdly with his conclusion of an very early civilisation. And I think his research is far above what most writers do theses days. But i think he relies too heavily on everything being connected to the stars. I believe some cities were in fact built without reguards to star alignment. And the math got too heavy. With math, you can connect any two objects you want. by a play of the numbers. But great job Mr. Graham. You wife is an outstanding. photographer. I look forward to your future works.

    "Powerful And Compelling Research"

Magicians of the Gods offers powerful and compelling research that demands that we re-examine the prevailing view of our history and embrace all of the implications of civilization being far older and much more mysterious then it may seem.
