Publisher's summary

Surrender is not a Ranger word.

History records massive ancient battles at Carthage, Megiddo, and Cannae. Soon it will record an even greater one...at Sustugul.

Surrounded in the desert port of Sustugul, the Rangers and their new allies must fight a desperate defense. The legions of the Lich Pharaoh, led by a fierce and brutal warrior queen medusa from the Land of Black Sleep, have erupted out of the tomb-haunted south, and overwhelming forces of savage orc hordes swarm the walls of the besieged city.

As the Rangers fight to hold their ground—or be slaughtered and driven into the sea—Corporal Talker struggles to forge a dangerous request that may bring back fallen comrades from beyond the Lands of Night...or destroy the very fabric of time and space.

At the center of this stunning massed infantry battle like something from the Age of Bronze, US Army Rangers must use every war-fighting skill and battlefield trick, along with their legendary heroic intestinal fortitude, to turn the tide and break the forces of evil in a large-scale battle unlike nothing they’ve ever fought in before.

Includes exclusive WarGate After Action Report with Sergeant Major (ret.) John McPhee a.k.a. “The Sheriff of Baghdad".

Do it again Ranger

If you have read the kindle version of this book before the audio book came out, you might realize that the Audiobook version is missing something. The entire Epilogue is missing from the recording! The epilogue has a very important plot point in Talker’s story and listeners are missing out! Do it again Ranger! Incomplete, unsat.

Edit: After removing from my Library and redownloading the title the epilogue has now been updated and I have since update my review! Excellent addition to the series, can’t wait for the next one!

Rangers lead the way

I love this series and this book is a great continuation of it. The narration style is unique (in a good way) and it has all of the hallmarks of fantasy & military books. Action, monsters, guns, wizards, massive battles and best of all…Coffee!

Stupendous

You guys are amazing. You took my least favorite part of the last book and somehow made it ok that it happened, and not OK by making me cry like a small child, hahaha.

Great story, hold the coffee

Would have given five stars on the story which is really good, but this CONSTANT mention of coffee is annoying enough that it deserves mentioning. The first couple dozen references to coffee were funny enough. The next couple of dozen were meh, the rest are just an opportunity to roll the eyes every ten minutes. Makes one think of Fox News and Mike Lindell commercials running almost every single commercial break. Come on guys, give it a rest finally, you’re WAY too talented to have this annoying of a writer’s crutch/tic!

Never Shall I Be Dissapointed

The series has never dissaponted and I don't see that happening ever. This book really showed the growth of Talker and what he is willing to do to save his brothers, even if it means the end of other things.

Forget nothing!!

First audiobook I have listened to for the series, the rest I have read. Just an amazing story. The action and description of battle is great. The ending was by far the best!!!!! The humanity and the little dash of hope the ending gave in a dark world made the difference. Can’t wait for the next phase line to be crossed. Great job wargate!!!!!!!

Expertly Moving Towards A Conclusion...

The creative plot line and rich character development continues. While none of the previous books have disappointed, this one has gotten better and provided some surprises. Talker will definitely need to make some monumental decisions coming up in the next book(s). It will be interesting to see how it develops.
