Publisher's summary

From David Baldacci - the modern master of the thriller and number-one worldwide best-selling novelist - comes a new hero: a lone Army Special Agent taking on the toughest crimes facing the nation. And Zero Day is where it all begins....

John Puller is a combat veteran and the best military investigator in the U.S. Army's Criminal Investigative Division. His father was an Army fighting legend, and his brother is serving a life sentence for treason in a federal military prison. Puller has an indomitable spirit and an unstoppable drive to find the truth.

Now, Puller is called out on a case in a remote, rural area in West Virginia coal country, far from any military outpost. Someone has stumbled onto a brutal crime scene, a family slaughtered. The local homicide detective, a headstrong woman with personal demons of her own, joins forces with Puller in the investigation. As Puller digs through deception after deception, he realizes that absolutely nothing he's seen in this small town, and no one in it, are what they seem. Facing a potential conspiracy that reaches far beyond the hills of West Virginia, he is one man on the hunt for justice against an overwhelming force.

David Baldacci is one of the world's favorite storytellers. His books are published in over 45 languages and in more than 80 countries, with over 110 million copies in print. He is also the cofounder, along with his wife, of the Wish You Well Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting literacy efforts across America. Still a resident of his native Virginia, he invites you to visit him at www.DavidBaldacci.com and his foundation at www.WishYouWellFoundation.org, and to look into its program to spread books across America at www.FeedingBodyandMind.com.

What an incredible book!

The story was so well written and being a fan of audio books, the readers as well as the other collaborators made this a full experience and I couldn't recommend this more.

Couldn't stop listening

What made the experience of listening to Zero Day the most enjoyable?

The story was complex; the situation was current and believable and the performances were outsianding.

Who was your favorite character and why?

No favorite character. Their roles were all so importat and well described. Loved the main character and the relationship he had with his brother.. The female local cop was great..... It all fit together very well.

What about Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy ’s performance did you like?

They read it so well, I didn't want to stop listening. Good for them that they had such a good book to read....but good for David that he had two readers who made his book come alive.
Read it...you'll see.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

I am not good at that kind of thing.....

Any additional comments?

I listened to this on my 5-mile daily walks and in the car and while washing dishes.... I cpldn't wait to get up in the morning to start my walk....just so I could listen.Good bood...good readers

So far so good

I have read both Zero Day and The Forgotten from Baldacci, in the wrong order, mind you and loved both. McLarty and Cassidy are excellent and make the story seem so real with their inflection and accents with the different characters. They dont kiss a beat either, seamless in presentation. Having the two together is a step above just one reader. The stories are exciring and both deliver intriguing lines that surprise when they dont go in the difection you expect. The two stories are dramatically different with one common character, John Puller. A tough guy no doubt, but subtle. To me, he reminds me of Reacher, maybe a bit more intuitive. In Zero Day you will hate the crooks of Government. In the forgotten, you will hate elitism and power borne from money. Either book is a great addition to your library.

Really enjoy the story line, but.......

Once again it would be nice if the reader would cut down on the wudder (water) and pawsed (paused). I am southern so we have our accents but it would be nice to have a neutral accented read. Also like the others and in all things now please town down the social activists propaganda. We don’t need to be reminded in every one of the books in this serious the women have some sort of reason they have to work harder or are disadvantaged in a mans world. I read and listen to books to get away. #metoo

Best Book Yet

I really enjoyed this book. The story held together very well. This has been my favorite book of David Baldacci's so far and I have listened to at least 10. Ron does a great job narrating also.

did not like

could not get past the violence and hateful actions of the abusive drunk in the first few pages. I wanted to return it but could not for some reason even though I had only listened to a few pages. was disappointed in this book.
the narrator always does a great job with the books he does.
