Douglas Preston never fails to entertain

Would you listen to Tyrannosaur Canyon again? Why?

Sure, the book was totally enjoyable. I'd listen again the second time for the more scientific information, after listening to the interview with Mr. Preston at the end.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Neither. It was pure entertainment. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

a bit disappointed

Even though I generally love Preston's books, he is a very talented author. This book, in my opinion, fell short & was a bit disappointing to me in that it was pretty boring & just last me in many places in the book. Not to mention the Smithsonian is formally an agency of the USG via an Act of Congress in 1889. Therefore, by its nature, its authority is always trumped by that of the US Military, NSA, CIA, DIA, & the rest of the intelligence alphabet soup. They, in large part, control the output of the science institutions, hence the last part of this story could never happen. IF this were ever truth with alien viruses or alien lifeforms, the USG would simply squash the research before publishing & slap "classified" on it. Then swear the scientists to non-disclosure agreements.

A pleasure to listen to

The quality of the writing is not in the same league as that of The Pieces of the Puzzle by Robert Stanek, but I was able to suspend my disbelief and hang in there for the ride. As far as the narrator being horrible, listen to the sample and decide for yourself. I felt the narrator was good and helped bring the story and the characters to life.

Only reason I give this book 3 stars instead of 4 (which it probably deserves) is because as a scientist, I often find books written with science as a story element to be oversimplified or simply wrong. This book is no exception, but again I was able to suspend my disbelief and enjoy the story.

Action packed adventure

A well researched and entertaining read. Some scenes and situations are a bit impossible, but suspend the disbelief and go with it. I didn't find the narrator to be at all a problem, but then I can't stand Scott Brick and others seem to find him enchanting. Go figure.

Up a canyon without a paddle, but with a story!

OK here's the deal. This is classic Douglas Preston/Scott Brick work, with relatively well developed characters, an interesting plot that is clearly well researched by the author, and some crackling good action scenes.

Now if you don't like the Preston/Brick combination, this is unlikely to be a book you will find compelling. I am a fan, and genuinely enjoyed it. I didn't give the story as high a rating as some, only because it is a really long stretch, but aside from that, this book comes recommended.

Bravo! Great book!

The unexpected twists and turns, the fast pace, and the interesting facts created the perfect combination of a great book. I even warmed up to the reader after a while. It is a 10 out of 10!

Narrator is annoying

I love the story. But the narrator was so nasal sounding he often drew me out of the story because I was annoyed.
