I loved it, a nonfiction book that reads like a fiction with fun stories told in a fascinating manner.

Non Fiction that reads like Fiction!

The way each case is represented, I could not help but soak up lots of information whether I wanted to or not! I wish my old teachers had the knack Doug Preston has for presenting informative facts!

Surprised about content

I didn’t realize that this is a compilation of true story articles about his other writings. I was glad that I have read most of his novels based on these

Really appreciate a good telling of an oddity or unusual discovery in such a way to encourage further research.

Such a fun listen

This was my first time listening to a book like this, I loved the “short story” format. The author is so extremely knowledgeable, well spoken, and easy to listen to. I’m sad that it ended and hope to see him publish others like this based on other stories he has written.

Really good but could have been a more enjoyable l

I love everything Douglas Preston and this one is really good howeverI have atleast two issues so I can't give 5 stars.

First issue is the minute long background music while the narrator is talking at the end of each chapter and another minute of background music to begin each chapter, both while the narrator is ending and beginning a chapter. This is completely unesassry and pulls you out of the story instead of into it.

Secondly why no chapter on the Forrest Fenn treasure hunt given all the intrigues and interesting people involved in it and also the author D. Preston is very good friends with the late Mr. Fenn, now there is a chapter about arrowheads and Fenns collection in the 1990's but nothing about the treasure or hunt it's very odd.

Everything else is fantastic the stories are my cup of tea and the narration is great it's just that darn chaper intro and outro music while the narrator is speaking, true it's only 1 minute at the beginning and one minute and the end of chapter so it's not a deal breaker it's just serves no purpose it's not a mood setter unless getting the listener agitated for a minute is the goal.

To all audiobook producers please just stop with the music while a story is being told.

Mediocre effort

He has recycled a bunch of old news articles. Interesting enough but they don't fit together or flow. The chapter on Oak Island was particularly disappointing. He claims to love archeology but he didn't address any of the recent discoveries. There is now irrefutable evidence that the treasure exists and the archeological discoveries are their own kind of treasure but he didn't bother to really update the story.

A Great Description of the discovery of tombs from an arm chair

Enjoyed the mystery of exploring inside a wonderful tomb! Narrator did exciting job answering all the questions that come mind about exploring the past!
