A mixed bag, but above average.

Spots of brilliance interspersed with bits of unbearably annoying characters. The female lead is one of the most grindingly unbearable characters I've ever encountered in a book and I've read a lot of books. I had a lot of trouble suspending my disbelief in actually believing Jack would want to be with her.

i liked the story but i'll buy the physical books

I really liked this, i was recommended the Repairman Jack series from a friend who likes the same things that I do for the most part. It kept my intrest the entire time but everytime he did the voice for Vicky i wanted to stop the book and never hear that squeal ever again. It really turned off the story for me over and over again.

Pretty good story

I bought this book because I read that the Repairman Jack series is similar to Lee Child's series. Well, I can see the similarities, and looking forward to reading further books in the series (when Audible makes them available). I don't think the plot is as good as in lee Child's books, though. It became pretty clear how everything will turn out a few hours before the end of the book. Still, the action sequences are good and Repairman Jack character is quite appealing.

Unexpected, but very good

After starting with the very realistic "early years" trilogy of Repairman Jack, this book about monsters and magic took me by surprise. I was very skeptical at first, but got into the story as it progressed and couldn't stop listening to the last hour and a half as the conclusion will have you on the edge of your seat. I had guessed most of the plot twists by about halfway through, but that didn't detract much from the story. Great performance from the narrator, including a very convincing Indian accent.

hard going at first, but got better with time

I almost stopped listening to this book. Jack is a love-lorn dude, and those are annoying. Despite repeatedly being told and shown by his ex-girlfriend that she wants nothing more to do with him, is in fact, repulsed by him, he deludes himself that they perhaps have a chance. I have no patience with type of storytelling.

The storyline is intriguing, the dips back into time, to explain the backstory, were enjoyable and well done. The story, and Jack himself, did grow on me and I listened to the last half with enjoyment. Satisfying on a level where you would really love to hire a guy to right all the injustices perpetrated against you. I'll buy the next book int he series.

Loved it

The plot was good, interesting characters, the supernatural elements were small and not overly done. I enjoyed it, I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

New kind of read for me.

This book was interesting for me. Kind of a different read. It was narrated well. There were a few surprises that I did not expect. Enjoyed.

Great Story & Great Narrator

Would you listen to The Tomb again? Why?

I don't think that the narrators get nearly enough credit. Fist of all, I loved the story, but the narration is one of the best I've ever heard. The narrator's voice draws you in, and his interpretation of the characters really gives them substance. I'll be looking for Joe Barrett's narrations in the future!

Major major flaw limits this stories efficacy

Spoilers –
It was obvious to me that the one armed Indian man was the boy who tried to fight or Albert and it was also obvious that the “grandma” was the system. That’s a no fault of the writer’s. What blame ICAN lay in his feet is he uses the grass as a scent marker for the people he chooses to sacrifice to Cali, and uses Jack’s sweaty shirt when he runs out of the ELIXIR, but when Jack is escaping the hold and he’s “drenched in sweat from head to foot“ the monsters can’t smell him? How does that make sense? The writer repeatedly says that the necklaces make the wears invisible to the monsters, it does not say that it blocks all of their senses. How can a professional writer miss something this big and how could the so-called paid editors also miss this? I was not impressed with the story. I regret using a credit to buy it. I enjoyed reading the keep a little more than this, but this writer is not even in the top 20 in my list of favorites. Not impressed. What I C a N say about this writer is that his grasp of usage (what most people called “grammar”) is excellent. Now if I can just find a few more writers who have an excellent grasp on usage and can tell a good story, I’d be in heaven. The search continues
