Publisher's summary

Edgar Roy - an alleged serial killer held in a secure, fortress-like Federal Supermax facility-is awaiting trial. He faces almost certain conviction. Sean King and Michelle Maxwell are called in by Roy's attorney, Sean's old friend and mentor Ted Bergin, to help work the case. But their investigation is derailed before it begins-en route to their first meeting with Bergin, Sean and Michelle find him murdered.

It is now up to them to ask the questions no one seems to want answered: Is Roy a killer? Who murdered Bergin? With help from some surprising allies, they continue to pursue the case. But the more they dig into Roy's past, the more they encounter obstacles, half-truths, dead-ends, false friends, and escalating threats from every direction. Their persistence puts them on a collision course with the highest levels of the government and the darkest corners of power. In a terrifying confrontation that will push Sean and Michelle to their limits, the duo may be permanently parted.

As expected from Mr Baldacci, Excellent!

Couldn't stop listening. Spent extra time in my car because I didn't want to stop in the middle of a chapter.

Not one of his best but a good listen

I like Baldacci but the new set of characters in these books are not my favorites so that colors my review. I do love McLarty as the reader.

Less than Baldacci's best

Typical great action POTUS thriller but this one had writing like a 7th grader sometime, mostly in dialogue. Worth a credit.

Very, very interesting read! Well done!

Where does The Sixth Man rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is one of my favorites. A very different type of story line which unlocked all kinds of possibilities. Gives you something to think about for sure.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Of course I like King and Maxwell but I grew to really like the brother and sister. I liked the way the sister took care of her brother. Family first!

What does Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Oh, yes! I hope they are matched as readers on the Baldacdi books in the future and for many, many books to come. A perfect match. Their tones, accents, and timing give the story that "little extra" that the written word just can not do.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I can't do that as real life comes first. I plug in my ear buds and shop, clean, cook and listen as time allows.

Any additional comments?

I've enjoyed many of the Baldacci books and look forward to them faithfully. He researches his work and presents it and his characters in very enjoyable reads.

Awesome story

As usual, with David Baldacci, well written and performed. Some reviewers commented unfavorably on the narration and the background music. I didn't mind either one. I am looking forward to the next one in the King and Maxwell series.

More than a simple spy/mystery/thriller

My rating for the performance was only a 4 because of the looseness of the editing. Attributed speech, when when the female when a female character was attributed by the male narrator, needed to be a little tighter.

The narrator and female voices are highly talented, and the story is first rate.

But I kept waiting for Ron McLarty to say A&EEEEE …

narration was disappointing

The female co-narraator was difficult to focus on during the performance. The fake accents she tried using to distinguish between characters just made it worse.
