Publisher's summary

Edgar Roy - an alleged serial killer held in a secure, fortress-like Federal Supermax facility-is awaiting trial. He faces almost certain conviction. Sean King and Michelle Maxwell are called in by Roy's attorney, Sean's old friend and mentor Ted Bergin, to help work the case. But their investigation is derailed before it begins-en route to their first meeting with Bergin, Sean and Michelle find him murdered.

It is now up to them to ask the questions no one seems to want answered: Is Roy a killer? Who murdered Bergin? With help from some surprising allies, they continue to pursue the case. But the more they dig into Roy's past, the more they encounter obstacles, half-truths, dead-ends, false friends, and escalating threats from every direction. Their persistence puts them on a collision course with the highest levels of the government and the darkest corners of power. In a terrifying confrontation that will push Sean and Michelle to their limits, the duo may be permanently parted.

Drama with a Twist

What made the experience of listening to The Sixth Man the most enjoyable?

The book began with a twist. Whenever there is death in the beginning, to me that is a action packed book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Sixth Man?

I won't go into to much detail, but when someone said "yeah I remember everything, it's like having a DVR in my head"

What does Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

They bring the excite of the character, the flaws of the person they play and the thrill of the chase. Those voices can get feeling things you don't normally want to feel.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When someone finally came to their senses and remembered an event. What event? You will have to listen to find out!

Great Story but Predictable... Sort of.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Sixth Man to be better than the print version?

Of all Baldacci Books I've listened to, this is the most predictable as far as 1 particular character. The story was interesting but took too long to build up to.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

there was a lot of dragging int he first 70 chapters...

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Not sound JUST LIKE Will Robie and Jessica Reel... I forgot that this was about King and Maxwell. I wish they would've done something to make them their own, but then, this was the first King and Maxwell book I listened to that wasn't narrated by Scott Brick.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The Human Computer... He does exist

Any additional comments?

not my favorite

Maxwell and King at their best!

Like espionage counterespionage? Then you gotta read this! The depth and breadth of character development is other worldly! Enjoy!!!

Really good read

I just finished listening to this, and really enjoyed it very much. There were some surprises in the characters that I didn't see coming, and that is a big plus for me!

Best over all K & M Novel yet!

Best story yet. Narrators excellent. Wished you had used them on all K & M books.

Excellent

Baldacci is one of my favorite authors. Many, many hours of entertainment. This is the best of the King and Maxwell series, IMHO. Sean and Michelle are as good a duo as exists. Both tough, both smart, and Michelle is hell on wheels in any kind of fight. Some very good twists in the plot, kept me guessing until the end. I hope there is more to come.
As for the narrators, I have seen some negative reviews for these two, especially Orlagh Cassidy, I simply don't understand why. I think she does a great job, as does Ron McLarty.
There are very few books I will bother with more than once, This is one I can see returning to.

Intriguing….captivating

Another stellar puzzle to unwind for Sean & Michele. Must say the music adds to the twists & turns. On to my next thriller😎

One of Baldacci’s best

I really dislike the music but the story is so good it’s worth it anyway. The narrators are okay… awful with accents and dialects but with nice voices overall.

Typical

This was a pretty typical Baldacci novel. I always enjoy them. I hope he doesn’t change the narrators because they fit the parts.
