Publisher's summary

Frank Rath thought he was done with murder when he turned in his detective's badge to become a private investigator and raise a daughter alone. Then the police in his remote rural community of Canaan find an '89 Monte Carlo abandoned by the side of the road, and the beautiful teenage girl who owned the car seems to have disappeared without a trace. Soon Rath's investigation brings him face to face with the darkest abominations of the human soul.

With the consequences of his violent and painful past plaguing him and young women with secrets vanishing one by one, he discovers once again that even in the smallest towns on the map, evil lurks everywhere - and no one is safe.

Who dunnit with no real redeaming quality

Is there anything you would change about this book?

There were enough elements missing or flawed to make it beyond repair. I found the characters mostly unlikable. Our main character is presented as being top notch detective but either misses obvious clues or comes to unbelievably astute conclusions. There is little if any humor in the book but also didn't keep me on the edge of my seat. The main character is an adult male but acts like a school boy in his relationships.

Would you recommend The Silent Girls to your friends? Why or why not?

No, it reads like a James Patterson wanna be, including a cliff hanger ending that didnt leave me anxious to read the next book.

Any additional comments?

Too many situations in this book left me thinking that a clever, caring detective just wouldnt act that way, either in his relationships or in his hunt for bad guys. I'd pass on this one.

Good story line

What was a missing persons case turned out to be a lot more. I listen while driving and actually sat in the car parked at my destination to finish some chapters.

Snore for a long time

Would you try another book from Eric Rickstad and/or R. C. Bray?

Probably not. Unless it was by accident.

What was most disappointing about Eric Rickstad’s story?

It was so slow and predictable, I was bored until chapter 42, I would have just quit the book, but I was waiting for a new release and decided to stick with it. I did not finish though, I just didn't care what happened.

Which scene was your favorite?

the fight in the trailer

Did The Silent Girls inspire you to do anything?

find another book

Any additional comments?

it had potential, but I just didn't care about any character

in my opinion it was really good about half way thru before I was hooked. the narration was great. I just feel as if it had some slower developments

Ausome book

I liked the narrator very much the story line was great right up to the end. I was however very disappointed at the very end the monster was at Rachel's apartment but had he killed her or did he just want her father to know he could get to her at anytime?? I don't like being left to wonder. I guess however that it did keep you guessing right up to the end which was certainly one I was not expecting. I will definitely be listening to more Eric Rickstad👍

Great. Until the end

Loved this book. Kept me engaged. Good character development. Believable story.

Really did not like the end. Too morose.

Not for the Faint of Heart

If you could sum up The Silent Girls in three words, what would they be?

Abominable, Black, Sick,

What other book might you compare The Silent Girls to and why?

Silence of the Lambs, Edward Giun, or Some other black sole book.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Some of the scenes were so graphic they made my skin crawl to realize this stuff really happens and people really are this sick.

Any additional comments?

If you are not into True Crime, or the workings of Sick Minds, I would not recommend this book.

Solid book.

What made the experience of listening to The Silent Girls the most enjoyable?

An okay experience but pales next to the Michael Connelly book I just had the pleasure of reading. The only thing I didn't understand is why the author spent so much of his time with his main character complain of back pain. I felt like I was listening to commercials for various pain remedies at times. It slowed down the story and nothing was gained by it. Other than that, a decent book.

Good book

Good book, sometimes a little hard to follow along with because of the many characters but really good. The end will send chills down your spine!
