Short fast read

This Amazon Original was a fast audible listen. Most notably, the short story uses a nonverbal autistic child in a respectful manner. I appreciated the clarification, nonverbal does not mean unintelligent. The author also points out deliberately, the need for this child and others with the diagnosis to have a schedule. In addition, the story skates around parental screaming matches and the effects on children. Quite frankly, I thought the approach was beautifully done. Many people will be able to relate.

The story centers around a murder and all the usual bookish things necessary to keep us (readers) coming back.

I enjoyed the narrator.

There was swearing, minimally, as if it was a requirement.

Poor engineering

The hiss of an open mic interferes with the narration. I wish the engineer would have taken better care with the recording.

Loved the drama

I really enjoyed this short story especially the older homicide detective, Ramono. I hope she is in another in the series. Bree is kinda soft spoken but a strong character. I am going to preview the other books before purchase as I really enjoyed the chemistry between the two detectives.
aThis is a great listen for everyone who likes a bit of drama and suspense at the end of the work day.

Loved this narration!

Audio book: Christina Traister

This narration was excellent. Ms. Traister managed to bring these characters to life, each in unique ways. It really helped to pull me into the story.

While this is a short novella, it was a nice introduction to the main character. I liked her as well as her partner. The mystery was believable and laid out in a way that kept me guessing as to what exactly had happened. I'm definitely moving on to the next one.

Great short story

Having read later “Bree Taggert” books, I knew her back story. This prequel used her back story to enhance the investigation. I recommend “Bree Taggert” books by Melinda Leigh -I enjoy them.

The beginning of Bree Taggert as a homicide detective

A guy was shot and left hunched over the steering wheel of his car. Detective Bree Taggert is the investigating detective. She’s been a detective two days transferring over from police officer l
This was a typical police procedure story with detectives looking for clues trying to puzzle together the pieces of the crime starting with surveillance cameras and next of kin.
This is a short prequel for the Bree Taggert series. This series is about homicide detectives investigating crime scenes.
Narrator:
Christina Traister is the sole female performer. I listened using 2X speed on the audible app. This audiobook is an unabridged version that is best explored using the free ebook available to prime members.
