An amazing listen! Wow!

I feel like I've discovered a gem of a series. After reading the positive reviews I decided to take a chance on this story. It was amazing. It's one of the few times I've felt that the audio version is better than the book. An outstanding performance of a wonderfully written story with characters you can't help but like and root for. Decent cops doing good honest police work and an excellently plotted novel. Right after I'm done with this review I'm starting the next in the series (book and audio!).

Best British fiction in years.

This is masterful. Exceptional performance, tight story. Great narrative. One of the best. I look forward to the rest of the series.

A new series to love

Tony Parsons brings London crime to life with this series. Very well narrated this is a great mystery with a good twist at the end.
Warning, there is some gore, and people you grow to like, die.

Definitely a winner

Interesting characters, brilliant narration. Well worth getting to know DC Max Wolfe. As a female Yank of a certain age, I am late to the series and look forward to the next as I play catch up. Highly recommend!

Tight Mystery

I really enjoyed this book.
The characters, the story - certainly cliche (wealth is evil/poverty is kind)- the mystery, the performance.
I’ll read more in the series because it’s entertaining and not completely predictable.

refreshing

Thoroughly enjoyed this book, even though the story line was similar to others the characters and writing were so well done it seemed new and fresh. Even with the disturbing subject matter it was never base, vulgar or graphic. The writing allowed the listener/reader to see without being disturbed. First book in a long time I listened to with rapt attention, rewound when I thought I'd missed a nuance... Yes a nuance, it had that...enough said?

Well done.

I have one little quibble with the whodunit but I'll have to keep it to myself to avoid a spoiler and it is a small mark against a book that is so well written. Very good plot, characters and flow.

too much extraneous detail. But great story otherw

I love the idea I love the story that were just too many times when the story would go off on a very detailed tangent that I lost track of the story altogether found myself completely forgetting that I was even listening to the book.
