Publisher's summary

Gabriel Allon, art restorer and spy, is about to face the greatest challenge of his life.

Allon is recovering from his grueling showdown with a Palestinian master terrorist, when terrorism comes to find him once again. An al-Qaeda suspect is killed in London, and photographs are found on his computer - photographs that lead Israeli intelligence to suspect that al-Qaeda is planning one of its most audacious attacks ever, straight at the heart of the Vatican.

Allon warns his old friend, Monsignor Luigi Donati, the pope's private secretary, and rushes to Rome to assist in security. But what neither he nor Donati knows is that the Vatican has been thoroughly penetrated. An extraordinary enemy walks among them...and he's just getting started.

In the days and weeks to come, Allon and his colleagues will find themselves in a deadly duel of wits against one of the most dangerous men in the world - and a hunt that will take them across Europe to the Caribbean and back.

But for them, there may simply not be enough of anything: enough time, enough facts, enough luck. All Allon can do is set his trap - and hope that he is not the one caught in it.

Take another thrill ride with Gabriel Allon.

Another great book

This is a great book and continues where the last book left off. The only issue is with the audio quality. The recording sounds horrible, the last
2 books have sounded this way. I hope the rest are better quality.

This one’s hard to put down.

After reading his last 2 books I wanted to see the character development. I began reading the Gabriel Allon books in order and am glad I did. Somewhere around the middle of the book it became a book that I just couldn’t put down. In fact it cost me a night’s sleep. Great read.

The Messenger

I have read through all of Daniel Silva's books. Love Gabrial. The Messenger is the best one of the lot, I think. I listened to it twice!

Couldn't Turn It Off

Great action and detail. Some situations were predictable, but I had to sit in my car and finish before I could get out. I've been a big fan of Vince Flynn's action/spy novels and his lead character Mitch Rapp. Now I've found another great source for this genre and another great lead character, Gabriel Allon. I'm downloading my next Daniel Silva now. The narrater did a very good job also.

Wonderful story, subpar narrator

If you could sum up The Messenger in three words, what would they be?

Another great story.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

As always with Daniel Silva's books, the characters are complicated, troubled souls, doing the best they can in a confusing and violent world. And yet, at times their darker sides get the best of them. As in life, sometimes there are no simple answers.

How could the performance have been better?

The auditor sounded like a newscaster with breaking headlines or a preacher at the pulpit. The story needs to be told with much more subtlety.
