Publisher's summary

Audie Award Winner, Thriller/Suspense, 2014

From David Baldacci - number-one best-selling author and one of the world's most popular, widely read storytellers - comes the most thrilling novel of the year.

Will Robie is a master of killing.

A highly skilled assassin, Robie is the man the U.S. government calls on to eliminate the worst of the worst - enemies of the state, monsters committed to harming untold numbers of innocent victims.

No one else can match Robie's talents as a hitman...no one, except Jessica Reel. A fellow assassin, equally professional and dangerous, Reel is every bit as lethal as Robie. And now, she's gone rogue, turning her gun sights on other members of their agency.

To stop one of their own, the government looks again to Will Robie. His mission: bring in Reel, dead or alive. Only a killer can catch another killer, they tell him.

But as Robie pursues Reel, he quickly finds that there is more to her betrayal than meets the eye. Her attacks on the agency conceal a larger threat, a threat that could send shockwaves through the U.S. government and around the world.

Just as good as the first

I enjoyed the plot of this novel even better than the first. It was a little disappointing to see some of the supporting characters from the first book take a back seat here, but I can understand why. Will Robie continues to be an awesome character, and I enjoy his adventures very much. Admittedly, I feel that Orlagh Cassidy's voice acting in this one wasn't as good as in the past novel. I think she was tasked with playing too many female characters, and some of them, especially the southern accent for Jessica Real, fell flat for me. Already looking forward to diving into the next book in the series!

A Hit (pun intended)

Considering that I'm a fan of most David Baldacci books, this one did not disappoint! The characters were consistent with previous stories and the narration was spot on.

Very good CIA thriller

Another good job by Baldacci. Overall it kept me interested throughout and I would have given 5 stars, but I found the ending kind of a dud. There was just so much build up that led to an “ok” conclusion.
Worth reading but a little more detail and creativity to close things out would have helped.

Love Robie

Another great book by Baldacci! Only he could make a government hit man such an interesting and sympathetic main character. He also makes the females in Robie's life both diverse and interesting. Lots of suspense, not too much gore.

Like Jack Reacher, but with more resources!

What made the experience of listening to The Hit the most enjoyable?

David Baldacci has a hit with this one. Like I said like Jack but with alot more resources.Gives you a good idea what goes on behind the scenes in govt sinister doings.

What does Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I like the way they work together. I don't usually like multiple readers but this duo hits it off well

Will Robie a no nonsense kind of hero

After reading The Innocent, I felt The Hit would be a great read and I was not disappointed. I know I am late getting the Baldacci express but I think I have found an author that keeps the pace fast and the action interesting. At least he did in this installment. I will be following Will Robie & company's adventures in the future.
