Publisher's summary

THE #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING JACK REACHER SERIES THAT INSPIRED TWO MAJOR MOTION PICTURES AND THE STREAMING SERIES REACHER

“The truth about Reacher gets better and better. . . . This series [is] utterly addictive.”—Janet Maslin, The New York Times

Jack Reacher was alone, the way he liked it, soaking up the hot, electric New York City night, watching a man cross the street to a parked Mercedes and drive it away. The car contained one million dollars in ransom money because Edward Lane, the man who paid it, would do anything to get his family back.

Lane runs a highly illegal soldiers-for-hire operation. He will use any tool to find his beautiful wife and child. And Jack Reacher is the best manhunter in the world.

On the trail of vicious kidnappers, Reacher learns the chilling secrets of his employer’s past . . . and of a horrific drama in the heart of a nasty little war. He knows that Edward Lane is hiding something. Something dirty. Something big. But Reacher also knows this: He’s already in way too deep to stop now. And if he has to do it the hard way, he will.

Critic reviews

“A Reacher novel is the closest thing to guaranteed joy short of a honeymoon.”Rocky Mountain News

“Plenty of suspense writers play the tough-guy-with-a-heart-of-gold card, but Child is indelibly skillful, quickly sketching intriguing characters as he drops bombshell after bombshell. With its taciturn but engaging hero and almost unbearably prolonged tension, The Hard Way makes reading easy indeed.”The Miami Herald

“In The Hard Way, Reacher is better than ever.”Contra Costa Times

The Hard Way

This book was read in less than two days. I was captivated by the story and the details of how Reacher rescued the afflicted and punished the bad guys. A great read!

On Mad Man

The antagonist has some very violent and vulgar actions. If you have read any of the previous books you will not be shocked. Just be advised they are there.

I have read all the books in chronological order. this one has to be the best one. Loved the team getting together and understood more about what they are about.

Jack Reacher, Alone in the Dark

Was an exciting story and well narrated with good voice effects. Jack is a good investigator and the book leaves just enough to the imagination to let you guess what's going on, to be your own investigator.

Reacher takes on NYC!

Great plot, although lean on violence if that's your thing. Decent reader too. Brutal details.

not his best

I've realized that this series is much better when read than when listened to via Dick Hill

another good listen

although some of the storyline was anticipated I chalk it up to listening to these stories for the last 6 months. Lee Child weaves intricate intoxicating intellectually stimulating storylines.

What About that Ending

Good book but the wrap up after the story sort of ended was a bit disappointing. Really pretty good up until then...

Lee Child Hits Another Homer.

I've read all the Reacher adventures. This is one of my top 5 favorites. Dick Hill does a great job narrating.
