Publisher's summary

In Paradise, nothing is what it seems....

Army Special Agent John Puller is the best there is. A combat veteran, Puller is the man the U.S. Army relies on to investigate the toughest crimes facing the nation. Now he has a new case - but this time, the crime is personal: His aunt has been found dead in Paradise, Florida.

A picture-perfect town on Florida's Gulf Coast, Paradise thrives on the wealthy tourists and retirees drawn to its gorgeous weather and beaches. The local police have ruled his aunt's death an unfortunate, tragic accident. But just before she died, she mailed a letter to Puller's father, telling him that beneath its beautiful veneer, Paradise is not all it seems to be.

What Puller finds convinces him that his aunt's death was no accident… and that the palm trees and sandy beaches of Paradise may hide a conspiracy so shocking that some will go to unthinkable lengths to make sure the truth is never revealed.

This guy should join the Camel Club

Would you consider the audio edition of The Forgotten to be better than the print version?

Yes

You get into the mind of the main character quickly.

Which scene was your favorite?

no spoilers

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

You don't want this guy thinking you are guilty of anything other than being stupid.

Any additional comments?

Keep the stories coming. I think this could go places.

Good read

I find that I like the main character more than I thought. And while I wasn’t terribly excited about the first book (it was just good in my opinion), I’m settling into the series even though some of the moves were predictable. But I base that on me understanding the author, not because the book lacks anything.

Another great Badacci novel

Where does The Forgotten rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Near the top as far as fiction is concerned. I've read some great non-fictions too i.e.Unbroken, The Secret Race. Forgotten uses real places and events but cleverly disguises it in a rather unlikely story. Suspending disbelief was no problem since everyone knew it was fiction.

What other book might you compare The Forgotten to and why?

The Innocent; anther Baldacci book. Same kind of fast pace, not sure who to trust, kind of story.

What about Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy ’s performance did you like?

They were fabulous. I liked the way they could both imitate several kinds of characters all at the same time.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No. It's hard for me to react that way to fiction.

Don't understand bad reviews

Where does The Forgotten rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's a good modern day good guy/bad guy story. There are many like it and that's OK. I like those kind of stories.

Any additional comments?

I liked the characters. Some think the Puller character was unbelievable. This is a story and reality needs to be stretched from time to time. Sure, in real life someone would have figured this guy was not someone to mess with and shot him from 30 feet. But that would have made for a 3 page novel. Not a big market. I liked to story. I'll read more. Is there really a better review than that? I'll spend time and money to read/listen about this guy again.

This is a good read... David Baldacci did a good job with this book. You could see where it was going but it was a very entertaining read.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Forgotten?

Well if I told you, it would give the book away.

What does Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

They did a good job bringing life to the characters.

John Puller is back!

I really would like to know why Bobby Puller is spending the rest of his life in Fort Leavenworth - no details in this book either. But John Puller Jr is the next Jack Reacher (the REAL Jack Reacher, not the pitiful substitute currently in the movies). Strong, tough, smart - and learning to live with his father, finally. Let's have more.
