Publisher's summary

For as long as it has stood overlooking New England’s jagged coastline, Lexington House has been the witness to madness... and murder. But in recent years the inexplicable malice that once tormented so many has lain as silent as its victims. Until now.

A member of the nation’s foremost paranormal forensic team, Jenna Duffy has made a career out of investigating the inexplicable. Yet nothing could prepare her for the string of slayings once again plaguing Lexington House, or for the chief suspect - a boy barely old enough to drive, much less kill. With the young man’s life on the line, Jenna must team up with attorney Samuel Hall to pinpoint who - or what - is taking the lives of those who get too close to the past. But everything they learn brings them closer to the forces of evil stalking this tortured ground.

Romantic and Murderous

Two things that seem to always happen so far and these books.
1 the author always makes the women seem weak. the man always seems to be questioning whether they can handle themselves or not even though they are FBI agents. I don't understand this.

2 it seems we have to have this crazy sexual romantic scene. And I'm not saying it's not nice to have a little bit of love in these books but do we have to have so many pages of this love scene? I swear this is my last time complaining about this cuz I complain about this every single book in this series so far.
that being said another thing I keep repeating is this definitely needs to be a series on TV. Maybe HBO with all this sex. It plays out like criminal minds with I don't know if anybody will remember this show, ghost whisperer. It was a show that came out I believe on ABC and it had Jennifer Love Hewitt. It was a really good show until they decided to kill the main guy for some reason and then bring him back but with another actor who was weird.

Not my favorite

Read from June 14 to 15, 2012

First thought when finished: Not as good as the others but still entertaining!

What I Loved: The Team once again brought their A Game! By now they are as much family as friends. They truly treat each other with respect and will go out of their way to help each other. I love that with the exception of one couple that the romances have been outside the team. It has really made it possible for the friendships to shine through.

What I liked: Jenna has always been one of my favorite members of the Krewe so it was nice to spend more time with her. Her character has always been the most helpful so it was nice to see her take center stage.

What made me go huh?: It took a long time for me to warm up to Sam though part of that had to do with the narration.

Audio Review: Usually I am a fan of Luke Daniels but he wasn't great in this book. It might have been because I listened to the Iron Druid series first but Sam sort of sounded like Oberon. That isn't great when one is a dog and the other is a love interest. So I would say read this one, I ended up doing just that about half way through.

Final Thought: This was probably the weakest of the 4 books but I still enjoyed it!

Great book!

I liked this one a lot. You can tell it's an early Krewe book because it doesn't follow the Krewe book "formula" exactly, but it's pretty close. I liked that Sam wasn't as hard headed as the normal non FBI protagonists tend to be. The whole witch trial/Salem at Halloween was kind of cool. If you're a Graham/Krewe fan you will like this one. Luke Daniels does a great job as narrator.

Just okay

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Yes, I do enjoy these series of books

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Luke Daniels?

Not sure who, but did not like his interpretation of Sam or Jenna. Thought Jeffrey Cummings did a better job in book 1.

Narrative was great

Heather Graham is one of my favorite authors. The history she provides makes you want to visit each location of her books.

Good Entry for the Series

I really like this series. Each member of the team is unique and its nice to see them get their own story. Jenna is probably one of my favorites and I loved the author setting the story in Salem. The mystery was great, and the supernatural aspect seemed to flow more naturally in this book compared to the other ones. The whole murdered family combined with a cursed house was great.

Jenna and Sam had good chemistry and I liked how the author brought the team into the mystery. The story starts with a strong prologue and jumps right into the story. I liked the Sam character, but he was a little dismissive of Jenna’s abilities both on the supernatural side and on the physical side. Which was stupid considering she is a federal agent. The author did show Jenna took take care of herself and didn’t let her fall into the damsel in distress trope which I appreciated.

As with the other books, I wish the team was more prominent and the author didn’t focus solely on one member. The team in this book is barely supporting characters and that was my biggest issue with the book.

After three books with Luke Daniels, I’m starting to get use to him, but I still prefer Jeff Cummings from the first book when it comes to the voices and narration.

Great

They picked the perfect narrator for this book. A narrator can make or break a book and this one it even better
I have always enjoyed the Krewe series and have been buying them on audible to read again
