It's been a year since ex-Navy SEAL Ethan Kelly saw his wife Rachel alive. Now he's received an anonymous phone call claiming Rachel is alive. To find her, Ethan will have to doge bullets, cross a jungle, and risk falling captive to a deadly drug cartel that threatens his own demise.

There's six brothers, unless I missed someone. Three of them run KGI which is an ops company. They do intelligence gathering, rescues, etc. Two of them are still in the armed services. The sixth one is Ethan who is an ex-Navy seal. Not sure what he's done the past year when he thought his wife was dead. On the anniversary of her death he receives news that she might still be alive. He calls on his brothers and they form a rescue mission.
There's action, a mystery (who wants Rachel dead and why) and some tame love scenes. It's also about the relationship between Ethan and Rachel, before and after her kidnapping.
I've always been a avid reader so now I'm a avid listener. I prefer the paranormal genre but I do like to switch things up. It's boring if you don't have variety. Of course I do love the romance and the hotter the better. Also, you can't beat a good thriller filled with suspense and a ending you can't even guess at until the very end.
It's interesting. I didn't have to listen to it all at once, but it was OK. I like more "passion" in my books, but the story is good.
I enjoy his voice. He did a good job as usual.
More passion between the characters.
I'd wait until it was on sale to get it instead of using my credit.
There is a lot of needless sexist language like "screams like a girl," "cries like a girl" etc. I expected more from a female author. I also found part in the middle very repetitious.
Great detailed Storyline believable
The Drama and Action
YES ..Best Narrator Ever..love his performance
All of it..that's why I loved it
Read all of them ... Thank you Maya Banks
I live in CA where the traffic is a nightmare. It could take 90 mins to get to my location when it should have only taken 25 mins. Audible!
This was my first time reading a book written by this author. she was brilliant. I can see why she is a best seller. I loved this book. it was captivating. the narrator was great too. this is the first time I am actually considering buying another book just for the narrator. he was just that good.
Story of Lost, and new beginnings. This book is well written, and can pull emotions out. Harry Berkley is companioned well with this book and is able to ready emotions into the story, his performance was grand. Now I am off to the second installment of this series. I recommend this book. It has tough sexy bad boys, ie a family of 6 brothers well controlled by the love of their mother and father. they have each others backs no matter what, plus a new addition due to mom's picking up strays. Suspense, who done it or who is doing it. Loss, Rachel was buried 1 year ago. A package delivered by UPS and the information inside says Rachel is alive. Yes this is a great read and I do recommend it.
A stronger hero (and I don't mean physical strength)
The only problem I had with Harry Berkeley was that it was hard to distinguish between the male characters...but that's mostly on the author.
Disappointment. I like a good series that involves military/secret missions etc. This just didn't live up to the hype.
First you have a former SEAL - out of action for over a year - who has been on a drinking binge since his wife died the previous year. He drifts between self rage, self pity and wallowing in the fact he and his wife were at odds before her death.
He finds out his wife is still alive and being held captive in South America and goes to his older brothers who run a covert mission firm and basically says, you help me or I will go alone...so they let this drunken, former SEAL go on a covert mission in which he gets shot (just a graze, but seems to recover from very quickly), and then proceeds to ask his wife (I swear, every 5 minutes) "Are you OK" or variations there of. Not only does he keep asking, so do all of the brothers. If I were the wife, I would have taken one of the guns and shot them for being irritating!
Both the hero and heroine don't seem to know what teamwork and partnership is because they keep withholding information from each other which just makes their issues worse.
I listened all the way through...I had to know how it ended, which by the way seemed like a let down.
I have read this book a few times. The series is really strong all the way through book 7. Book 8 sort of makes you want to roll your eyes and vomit at the cheesiness... And book 9 did not do one of our favorite characters justice. I look for to book ten though because overall I really love the series.
