One of Perry’s Best

I found this many years ago b/c it won an Edgar award for best first novel. Since then I’ve listened or read most of what he’s written. This series is still my favorite & I listen to them every few years when I have too much time & don’t want to buy anything new.

consistent pleasure

This is my 5th book by Thomas Perry and I am only into the first few chapters. I haved enjoyed each thoroughly starting with the Jane Whitfield mysteries. He is now one of my favorite authors along with Michael Connolly. They are like pistachio ice cream and chocolate fudge cake-I love both but cannot choose between. Each one satisfies a craving at a particular time of desire.

Enjoy Thomas Perry

Action packed drama from the beginning. Enjoy all Thomas Perry books because he has my attention from the first sentence and is able to maintain action throughout the book.

Great listen

Where does The Butcher's Boy rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It has to rate at the top of the many books I've listened to so far. I wasn't familiar with Thomas Perry before, but he's a very engaging writer, keeps the story moving so you wonder how The Butcher's Boy can possibly get out of this situation. I highly recommend it.

The first of a wonderful series

Unfortunately, I read the Informant first because I didn't know that it was the last in a series. To get the most entertainment, it's best to start with the Butcher Boy, then move to Sleeping Dogs, and then The Informant. People rave about the Informant and I agree. It was a phenomenal book. The first two books have had mixed reviews, but taken all together this is one of the best series I have listen to. The narration could have been better, but the story sweeps you in. If you like Tana French, Henning Mankel, and Jo Nesbo, you should give this a listen. It's one of those series of books that is hard to put down.

Introduction by Michael Connelly

Read or listen to Michael Connelly’s introduction to Perry’s first novel and the 1983 Edgar winner. I couldn’t give a better review.
