Publisher's summary

A stunning breakout novel from the New York Times bestselling author of Still Missing in which a woman is convicted of her sister's murder.

Toni Murphy was eighteen when she and her boyfriend, Ryan, were wrongly convicted of the murder of her younger sister. Now she is thirty-four and back in her hometown, working every day to forge and adjust to a new life on the outside. She's doing everything in her power to avoid violating her parole and going back to prison. But nothing is making that easy – not Ryan, who is convinced he can figure out the truth; not her mother, who clearly doubts Toni's innocence; and certainly not the group of women who made Toni's life miserable in high school and who may have darker secrets than anyone realizes. Before Toni can truly move on, she must risk everything to find out the truth and clear her name.

brings out the dark in ur own trouble life. HURTS

this book is full of to close to real. I listen while driving ans found myself falling into a deep depression completely able to identify with the character. I had to finish it, hoping it would come full circle, I was left hanging with a sad soul feeling helplessness in my own life. Not a birthday vacation read.

Sooooooo Good! Narrator was fine

This book was so good. I wanted to listen to it while in the shower! I have heard this narrator before, yes she is a bit nasally but not distracting at all. I have listened to hundreds of books and find Scott Brick to be the most annoying of all!

Pulling at the Strings

I have loved Chevy Stevens as an Author since Still Missing. Although I didn't fully see that much of building within the relationship with Ryan I felt so much for our protagonist. it was a great read.

Good book overall

For the most part I liked the book but was frustrated with how the parents treated their daughter...weird relationship

Great story

Overall this was a great read. Some chapters before the big finale dragged a bit, but it was worth finding out what really happened to Nicole all those years ago.

Great book!

This book was my introduction to Chevy Stevens. I wasn't disappointed! I was furious throughout this book, at points fuming and ready to leap to the defense of fictional characters. when an author has pulled that kind of emotion from me then , in my opinion, they've done their job well. I was invested in these two main characters so upset at the hand life handed them. I will say, that the story wasn't necessarily slow to start, but at times a little slow to progress...... Or it could have been that I was impatient to finish it, that's possibility also. I actually listened to this on Audible and wasn't really impressed with the narrator but the story itself made up for it. She was just so nasally at times. Otherwise Such a good read.

Didn't Care For the Narrator

I love Chevy Stevens, but this narrator really isn't the best choice. She has a very nasal quality and sounds like she might have a cold. She also has some... regional pronunciations, I think? Or it's a speech impediment. She says words like "shoulder" as "showder" and "told" like "tode." I found that to be very distracting.

excellent, complete and well written

this is definitely one of the better mystery/suspense/thrillers. events unfolded very smoothly, the events were realistic and the twists are shocking yet subtle - nothing rushed. this is paced well and if you like girl on a train etc you won't be disappointed with this book.
