Publisher's summary

In one bloody night, three of Washington’s most powerful politicians are executed with surgical precision. Their assassins then deliver a shocking ultimatum to the American government: set aside partisan politics and restore power to the people. No one, they warn, is out of their reach—not even the president. A joint FBI-CIA task force reveals the killers are elite military commandos, but no one knows exactly who they are or when they will strike next. Only Michael O’Rourke, a former U.S. Marine and freshman congressman, holds a clue to the violence: a haunting incident in his own past with explosive implications for his country’s future.

Intriguing plot, great action

Though the author would be shocked that the nation debt is over $30 trillion, the plot was fantastic. There were some really good twists and turns, and the book ended right on the money.

this is pure Flynn, and I loved it

I've read all Flynn's books but somehow didn't know about this one, his first. I am ecstatic to have discovered it. I have no words to describe the pleasure I have found in this read!

Awesome on the edge of your seat excitement

Mitch isn’t in this one but, you will know several others.
Something out of today’s headlines or so, we’ll like to see.

Real insight

Vince Flynn always achieved credibility because he knew the subject matter extremely well. Although he went about as far as he could in Term Limits, this was Flynn’s usual style....a plausible and engrossing story. The good guys win.

The Tree of Liberty must be Refreshed..

I read this 17 years ago, it was my introduction to the venerable Mitch Rapp.

I donated all of my Flynn novels over the years to other readers, I have relocated several times for work and despise moving books. As Rapp, written by Flynn is maybe my all time favorite fiction character, I decided it was time to get reacquainted with the man after years away.

The audio books are fantastic, I listen to them on the way to the office, on surveillance, or just sitting on my patio on a nice day. This particular novel is a cautionary tale of our current place as a Country. It seems that Scott Coleman and Congressman O’Rourke might’ve had the right idea as they listened to the famous words of the Great Thomas Jefferson.

Excellent book, unfortunate that Mr. Flynn left us all to early, though he lives on through the actions of Mitch Rapp.

A cautionary tale of government corruption

This book was awesome. one of the best I've heard in quite a while. The plausibility of this story is scary. I shutter to think about how similar scenarios have actually played out in real life.
