Publisher's summary

Two young children disappear from their East Side home in New York City, their nanny killed in cold blood. As Lieutenant Eve Dallas begins to unravel the crime scene and search for Henry and Gala MacDermit, she's drawn into the twisted mind of a kidnapper who will stop at nothing to take revenge. Horrific threats concerning the brother and sister hit far too close to home for Eve, drawing her back into memories of her own tortured childhood.

But Eve knows that there's no time to waste on the past, and with every passing hour her determination to bring the children safely home strengthens. Eve and her team find themselves following an electronic breadcrumb trail left by a boy desperate to escape the evil witch. Their investigation into the kidnapper's sordid past reveals violent coercion, ritualistic killings, and chilling bloodlust - making her terrifying plans for the children abundantly clear.

I would read more Robb books

This was the first J. D. Robb I have ever listened to or read and it would make me choose more by this author. The character of Dallas is well written and the story was good. Nothing amazing, but a good, solid thriller.

LOVE!!! the In Death Series!!

Where does Taken in Death rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Was a Great Short Story!!

What did you like best about this story?

When Eve and Nixie met again and when Eve Saved the Children of coarse. I cried in a couple parts of the story.

Have you listened to any of Susan Ericksen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Susan is Eve Dallas, She brings Eve to Life....I would Much rather listen to Susan than read the book myself! if they were to change the reader in My Opinion it Would RUIN it!!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

YES!

Any additional comments?

I think the Story Ended in a strange way though.....I would have liked to have heard Eve interagate her and found out what she was Sentenced to Nut House or Prison?

Book 37.5 of the Best Series Ever!

The 'In Death' series, written by J.D. Robb & narrated by Susan Ericksen, is a futuristic suspense series. The story is set in mid-21st-century New York City & it centers around Lieutenant Eve Dallas & her billionaire husband, Roarke.

My husband & I both love all of the J.D. Robb, 'In Death' series. We first began listening to them when they were on CDs. We've listened to the entire series, in order, three times so far! If we're driving somewhere, you can be sure Eve, Roarke, Peabody, McNab, Capt. Feeney, Mavis, Dr. Mira, Nadine, Summerset & the rest of the gang are in the truck with us. We love all of the major characters & look forward, with anticipation, to the new audiobooks that come out in February & September every year!

If you're looking for an awesome mystery series, a little romance with a bit of the futuristic thrown in, then you'll love this series! Believe me, you just can't go wrong, but be warned... once you get started, you'll be hooked!

Pretty good for short story

More action than last book so that is a plus. Hopefully the last book was just a glitch and she will get back on track. Nice to have all the characters back in this book too.
As for S. Ericksen BRILLIANT as always!!

kidnapped children

Each year Robb publishes a novel and a short novella. This is the 2013 novella. The story is fast paced with lots of action, suspense humor and the usual great interaction of the regular characters of the series. It is the cast of characters that make this such a great series. I started the series because I was curious at how Robb perceived what the world would be like in 2060 and what crime fighting advancements would be. Susan Ericksen is critical to the success of the series, she is a great narrator. This story has a twin female, who is insane, kidnap her identical twin sister's children and murder their nanny. Dallas and team are out to rescue them. The children are also identical twins which add another twist to the story. Robb weaves a couple of children's fairy tales into the story If you are a fan of the series you will enjoy this. If you are looking for a short easy to listen to story this is the book.

Great listen

Futuristic version of Hansel and Gretel. Two young children abducted by their psycho aunt drop electronic bread crumbs to help Lt. Eve Dallas and her team find them. Probably my favorite of the J.D. Robb short stories, in spite of the fact that it’s all about the case, not about relationships.

Excellent

Even though it was very short this was one of the best Eve Dallas stories I’ve heard. The ending is very touching. Susan Erickson is the perfect narrator for this series! I highly recommend this book.
