Publisher's summary

America is in the thrall of a full-scale socioeconomic breakdown. The stock market plummets, hyperinflation destroys the value of the dollar, and the population, unprepared for hardship, panics. Practically overnight, the high-technology infrastructure and chains of supply collapse, and wholesale rioting and looting grip every city. Law enforcement, transportation, electricity, fuel, and medical supplies are all in the past now, as the country staggers beneath its own weight. Lawless bands of killers roam the countryside, leaving devastation in their wake and now that the government is gone, the Constitution is at stake. Who will carry on?

In this chaotic and dangerous environment, a few families and individuals, bound together by their faith, skills, and foresight, must struggle not only to survive day by day but defend themselves against a new and vicious predator - their fellow man.

Survivors is a shockingly realistic and lightening fast thriller about the coming implosion of America as we know it. Renowned survivalist expert James Wesley, Rawles has packed this story with the cold hard facts about how to stay alive in the face of mass riots, starvation, and anarchy. His expertise lends unforgettable, authentic detail to this season's most chilling novel. Listeners will not only be entralled, they will learn invaluable lessons on how to survive the coming collapse.

Fun and Interesting!

Good information and very interesting story line. The flow was somewhat choppy but it flowed well. It ended abruptly leaving several situations unresolved.

Relatively bland background stories to Book 1

The performance was solid so at least it didn't hurt to listen like it did to book 1. Relatively superficial. Literal complexity of a junior high novel. Much less survivalist and prepper info vs. Book 1.

Same story line as patriots

What did you like best about Survivors: A Novel of the Coming Collapse? What did you like least?

I listened to Patriots before this one and the characters introduced here are included in patriots, I really like Patriots so this one was disappointing

Would you recommend Survivors: A Novel of the Coming Collapse to your friends? Why or why not?

I would recommend patriot since it is a more dynamic story

What about Dick Hill’s performance did you like?

I like the performance

Do you think Survivors: A Novel of the Coming Collapse needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Patriot is the follow up book

A good spinoff of the first book.

Again a info filled book with a good story.
If you're a Christian, it's definitely for you. If you're anything other, get used to constant religious influence throughout. Like a Rush song, if you can ignore that aspect, it's a great book.

Nice tie-in.

Good parallel stories. I look forward to the next book. Hopefully it will be as good as both or better.

Christian Outlook

I have enjoyed this book tremendously. It is good to have a Christian outlook on the possible future. Jesus Christ is Lord.

Enjoyed it but disappointed

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I enjoyed the book however I felt like their was too much time spent on background and not enough spent on the the story. It was like there was this huge effort to describe the characters and a deadline came up and the book had to be finished quickly.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Something other than the climax of hit and run then fly away. You have all this set up and character development then a quicky climax. Now I know how a teenage girl feels.

What aspect of Dick Hill???s performance would you have changed?

Dick Hill is good for these types of books however he does come across a bit arrogant which actually fits the story well.

Do you think Survivors needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

It reads like that is the plan. We only know what happened to one set of characters.

Any additional comments?

It is not plausible to attack a large group without expecting a counter strike unless it is done with overwhelming force. It would be irresponsible to plan such an attack and bring it back to your home. I personally believe ex Military would know this. It is not plausible that a 13 year old kid would provide all the intelligence for such a mission. I did enjoy the story even though I was disappointed. This book was only half of what it should have been. I would have preferred that the art of great story telling had been more important than setting up for the next book as it appears. The authors' writing has improved over the previous book.

Highly recommended

What did you love best about Survivors?

I got to enjoy it as both a fictional work and as subject matter which is important (and timely) to me. I really enjoy the narration by Dick Hill.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Survivors?

No real high spots for me, but absolutely no low spots either...just a nice steady pace throughout.

Have you listened to any of Dick Hill’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, Dick Hill also narrated Patriots which was also written by James Wesley, Rawles. I really enjoyed both books (as read by Mr. Hill). In fact, I was a little sad when I listened to Founders (also by Rawles) and Mr. Hill wasn't narrating it.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Quest for home after the crunch.

Any additional comments?

I would recommend any of the books by James Wesley, Rawles. I very much appreciate the need and necessity for Christian faith and moral compass that is illustrated in his books.

Classic Rawls

Authentic. Believable. Hopefully, not prophetic. It should serve as a warning. Seeking my next installment.

I'd Pass

The story is simple, the characters are bland and have no development. There is too much in this story that just happens to work out in favor of the characters, too much to the point that it becomes ridiculous. Apart from the blatant "religion down your throat" feel, and the simplistic ways in which the obstacles are overcome, this book has no suspense, no thrill and no reason to keep you reading. The only reason I finished it was because I didn't have any credits with which to get another book and I have an hour each way commute.
I enjoyed the first of Rawles' books far more than this and was hoping for something similar. Needless to say that I was very disappointed and I will likely not purchase another of his books. There's much better out there and if I could get a do-over, I'd pass on this one.
