Publisher's summary

Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden is a very powerful wizard and a dedicated private eye. He is also a wise cracking trouble magnet. Fueled by a tempest of guilt, sleep deprivation, malnutrition, bad temper and frankly awful personal grooming. Harry is hurtling toward oblivion. According to Harry that is nobody's business but his own.

The Winter Queen of Faerie manipulates him into accepting a case to solve a murder and stop a war between the courts of Summer and Winter that could have literally earth shattering consequences. His own soul is up for grabs. Dresden must dig deep to discover that at time a willingness to accept a little help from your friends, be they a cub pack of werewolves, old loves in sheep's clothing, or a battalion of pizza loving dewdrop fairies, is a very good thing.

But how to pick just 100 of these unique and immersive listening journeys? We defined a series as having a minimum of three books, and—after some debate—we decided the titles had to be anchored in fiction. Great Story

Any additional comments?

Hard to really compare this to another book. Maybe Robert Parker's Spencer as a wizard set in Chicago (or some other mystical destination) v.s. Boston. Very well done and very entertaining. Excellent characters and story line.

Marsters best performance yet!

The narration in this book is Marsters' best yet. He has embraced the role of Dresden. Gone is the bored tone that plagued the first book. Glad I stuck around for this one.

Best Dresden tale yet

His writing gets better with each book -- this one is an enthralling tale that will carry you into a landscape that glitters, tingles, and glamours. His story also stands as an excellent mystery whodunit plot -- you'll likely never see the solution coming!

Great book, Ok performance

Honestly, I don't have much of a problem with the reader as much as I do the editing of the thing. There is at least one moment where a sentence is completely repeated, and there are more smaller errors. Sometimes his pronunciation is off too.

Great book though.

@#$%@#^ Lord of the Rings!

When I read this book I think of Lord of the Rings, albiet modern day. There are mystical creatures, lands to explore, and you wait until the ending of this book. Then try to watch the Lord of the Rings again without thinking that Dresden would have it wrapped up in about half the time.

Harry Potter + Severus Snape= Harry Dresden

Where does Summer Knight rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Top 10% and the series is climbing my list as it progresses.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I am a fan of James Marsters as a narrator however I find this seires much more enjoyable if I set the narration speed at 1.5

Which scene was your favorite?

Murphy's conversation with Dresden about her ex husband gave new insight into her character.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Good is sometimes hiding in a filthy foul mouthed suit covered by a leather duster!

Any additional comments?

Disappointed that Audible has offered for immersion reading reading at $3.99 for the first four books of this series but the price for immersion reading beginning with #5-Death Masks, that price skyrockets to $11.99!

Wonderful magical book

James Marsters is probably my favourite narrator, I love how he does those little laughs, how he screams, how he breathes. Brilliant reading of the best Dresden book so far. The action never stops, time is running out and Harry has way too much on his plate. Again. And before I forget: meep meep!
