Publisher's summary

Trenton, New Jersey, bounty hunter Stephanie Plum has inherited a "lucky" bottle from her Uncle Pip. Problem is, Uncle Pip didn't specify if the bottle brought good luck or bad luck. . . .

BAD LUCK:

Vinnie, of Vincent Plum Bail Bonds, has run up a gambling debt of $786,000 with mobster Bobby Sunflower and is being held until the cash can be produced. Nobody else will pay to get Vinnie back, leaving it up to Stephanie, office manager Connie, and file clerk Lula to raise the money if they want to save their jobs.

GOOD LUCK:

Being in the business of tracking down people, Stephanie, Lula, and Connie have an advantage in finding Vinnie. If they can rescue him, it will buy them some time to raise the cash.

BAD LUCK:

Finding a safe place to hide Vinnie turns out to be harder than raising $786,000. Vinnie's messing up Mooner's vibe, running up pay-per-view porn charges in Ranger's apartment, and making Stephanie question genetics.

GOOD LUCK:

Between a bonds office yard sale that has the entire Burg turning out, Mooner's Hobbit-Con charity event, and Uncle Pip's lucky bottle, they just might raise enough money to save the business, and Vinnie, from ruin.

BAD LUCK:

Saving Vincent Plum Bail Bonds means Stephanie can keep being a bounty hunter. In Trenton, this involves hunting down a man wanted for polygamy, a turnpike toilet paper bandit, and a drug dealer with a pet alligator named Mr. Jingles.

GOOD LUCK:

The job of bounty hunter comes with perks in the guise of Trenton's hottest cop, Joe Morelli, and the dark and dangerous security expert, Ranger. With any luck at all, Uncle Pip's lucky bottle will have Stephanie getting lucky---the only question is . . . with whom?

Janet Evanovich's Sizzling Sixteen . . . so hot, the book might spontaneously combust!

Wait until this book goes on sale

Weak plot, weak characterization, this tome is even missing the sexual pull between Stephanie and Ranger / Stephanie and Joe. Janet it may be time to hang up Plum's gun.

Love this series!

I love these books, and don't think that there is one that I have not enjoyed. With that being said, this was not my favorite. If you are going through the series it is still a definite must read! And, Lorelei king is amazing!

Sort of enjoyable

I have been binge listening to the Stephanie Plum series. I have been thoroughly enjoying them, so I don’t know if it was this particular book, or the continuing series, but this storyline seemed a little tired. Things blow up, she doesn’t have a car, Lula eats donuts and is on a diet, and she is torn between Ranger and Morelli. I think I am most tired of the relationship triangle. I find it nauseating how Ranger molests Stephanie by constantly touching her, “nuzzling her neck” and making sexual comments. This was written before the “me too” movement, but it is still disturbing.

Where is the sizzle?

I'm starting to feel sorry for Ranger. She taunts and teases him. And he does SO much more for her than Morelli. Of course Morelli can't provide cars right and left, but Ranger is always there for her and he doesn't judge her choices.

I'm on team Ranger! LOL. Now that she has lived in the fast-paced, exciting and dangerous side of life, no way will she ever be happy with a dull office job. Life with Ranger will never be dull!

Decent but not the best

The last 2 books have been a bit disappointing but still an enjoyable great quick read with a few laughs. Personally I like the love triangle between Stephanie, Morelli and Ranger and this book left me a bit disappointed with that. It was good for the typical laughs and entertaining characters.

Very funny

I read some of the reviews which panned this episode as not up to par. I didn't find that to be the case, but I'm not very demanding in my taste. I was looking for a light-hearted romp and this one delivers--perhaps not as well as my favorite to date--volume 12--but that one was a bladder-buster, maybe because I was on a long, boring trip up I-95. If you like Stephanie and Lula, and you're willing to accept that you're not going to get War and Peace with a laugh-track, you'll enjoy Sizzling Sixteen.
