Publisher's summary

Six years have passed since Jake Fisher watched Natalie, the love of his life, marry another man. Six years of hiding a broken heart by throwing himself into his career as a college professor. Six years of keeping his promise to leave Natalie alone, and six years of tortured dreams of her life with her new husband, Todd.

But six years haven’t come close to extinguishing his feelings, and when Jake comes across Todd’s obituary, he can’t keep himself away from the funeral. There he gets the glimpse of Todd’s wife he’s hoping for...but she is not Natalie. Whoever the mourning widow is, she’s been married to Todd for almost two decades, and with that fact, everything Jake thought he knew about the best time of his life - a time he has never gotten over - is turned completely inside out.

As Jake searches for the truth, his picture-perfect memories of Natalie begin to unravel. Mutual friends of the couple either can’t be found or don’t remember Jake. No one has seen Natalie in years. Jake’s search for the woman who broke his heart, who lied to him, soon puts his very life at risk as it dawns on him that the man he has become may be based on a carefully constructed fiction.

Harlan Coben once again delivers a shocking novel that deftly explores the power of past love and the secrets and lies that such love can hide.

A good mystery

I liked the principal character. The predicaments he got himself into were a bit frustrating at times, but thats all part of the book engaging you. Scott Brick gives any book
instant credibility in my opinion.

This was the first Harlan Coben book for me and I will try another.

Terrific read

Scott brick is the perfect narrator of this well designed story which started six years ago when are heroes girlfriend dumped him and a mediately married another man. At the wedding of his only true love he promised at the brides insistence to never contact them I promise to be kept for six years until he read the obituary that her husband had died. From there he starts to look for his Natalie and soon finds other people are interested locating her as well. As he keeps looking he keeps finding people trying to persuade him to stop his Pursuit as things that he is unaware of come into play. This book is Very good example of how that sometimes it is Important to understand all facets of the past to Determine which path to follow in the present to find the ultimate goal. There is plenty of action mystery and a Great deal of questions requiring answers to get to the end of the story which of course has an I’ve expected and yet Logical ending. This is definitely your book but I will listen to again and again.

Coben's Best Yet!

If you could sum up Six Years in three words, what would they be?

Exciting, and different turns the whole way. Just when you think you figured it out, it makes a U turn. His best writing so far. I listened to it twice in a row!

Which scene was your favorite?

The scene with Otto and Bob in the van.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Determined to find out the truth!

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed this so much, that I can not wait to see what the next Coben brings.

Great!

Where does Six Years rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Probably #2

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes. You just really want to know where Natalie is! There are a good few twists and turns. Some people say the book isn't plausible, but I beg to differ. As an artist, I know there are all kinds of weird artist retreats that would be hard to find... and perfect setting for a story like this.

Also, I see people saying he was whiny talking about his long lost love. If you can't stand listening to him talk about Natalie, you have obviously never been in love and can't relate. I thought it was believable and spot on as far as emotions go. *Even if* their romance only lasted 3 months.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

drags

this book started out OK but there were way too many moments where I was thinking "get on with it!" plus the narrator was a little too dramatic for my taste.

Great!

Harlan Coben does incredible job weaving this thriller! Leads you down several possibilities. I also enjoy that he does not feel the need to use multiple profanity or steamy love scenes to keep the readers attention.

Scott Brick is one of my favorite readers. He does a great job with male and female voices.

Confusing

Overall I liked the ending of the story but it was quite confusing at some points. It had a few twists here and there though and overall it wasn't half bad. The performer definitely sounds like the guy from Dexter though.

Love story with a moving hero

The strength of this story is the protagonists desire to reunite with his lost love and his depth of character. It's quite wordy in places, and towards the end the plot becomes riddled with situational complexities that almost made me give up on the book, but I am a very hard sell, and this is definitely a step above most mystery novels I have read, aside from the vintage thrillers such as Dashiell Hammett. Pretty clean writing here. Not much profanity and nothing terribly graphic. I recommend him
