Publisher's summary

Six years ago, Jack Till helped Wendy Harper disappear. But now her ex-boyfriend and former business partner, Eric Fuller, is being framed for her presumed murder in an effort to smoke her out, and Till must find her before tango-dancing assassins Paul and Sylvie Turner do. With masterful plotting and unnerving psychological insight, Thomas Perry delivers another mesmerizing thrill ride.

Good read

You fell into these peoples lives and felt for them. The time of the book gave you depth of character. Only issue the girls voice by a male reader is not that great. But loved it and will read more from the author!

Another tasty multi-layered character cake

Thomas Perry again captivates with not only the exciting plot but the typical character discovery he presents in books. I am always amazed at the attention to detail he provides that helps the reader inhabit different characters. This struck me at one particular point, one character was discussing the quality of another's hands giving an evocative picture of refinement.
Michael Kramer nailed it. The story crackled.

likeable or interesting or like to hate characters. I was absorbed from the beginning. nice complicated but believable story line, right to the end.

unfinished business

too open ended at conclusion. The DA, assassin's, Jack Till...13 hours of listening led to a coin flip, your guess is as good as the writer!

Serviceable, formulaic thriller

This is a decent thriller, but not anything to write home about. There are some large plot holes which are difficult to swallow. The writing is good. I wasn't happy with the narration; I found it cliched with stereotyped characters. The women sounded petulant or like prostitutes, sometimes like petulant prostitutes. I didn't find any of them believable. The men were also cliches, but with greater range. I bought this on the Daily Deal and it was fine for that, but I wouldn't have been happy spending a credit for it.

Spinning tale of killers, escaping killers, and gender stereotypes

An engaging enough book. All of the men seemed similar; strong, in charge, methodical and the women seemed to be ruled by emotions and desperate for the men in their lives. That got annoying.
The twists and turns for Jack Till & Wendy Harper were exciting.
The time period seemed to be post-cell phone but pre-internet with talk of 11 o’clock tv news.

Of course I enjoyed it!

I always enjoy reading the reviews of a Thomas Perry book. They range in expectation. I am one that just enjoys each one and Michael Kramer is such a good voice for the story.

This book takes you on a ride of 4 primary characters and lots of background characters. Smooth!

Good ending

Too much filler and fluff. We can assume they have to open a door before going in.
Recent history on most players would be adequate. The Bomb Maker was better, Silence was OK the next book will have to be great for me to spend any more time with Mr. Perry!

A good one

I enjoyed the story line. Excellent character development. Somewhat grity and that's what makes it entertaining.

Entertaining!

I wasn't thrilled about the narration at first, but once the story got going, I thought it was totally appropriate. The plot was interesting throughout, and the ending left something to the imagination without seeming unfinished.
