Publisher's summary

Based on true events, but unlike anything you've ever heard before, number-one New York Times best-selling author Nelson DeMille has created what may be his finest work to date.

At dusk on July 17, 1996, on a deserted Long Island beach, a man and a woman engage in adulterous sex in front of a video camera. Suddenly a terrible blast lights up the dark summer sky. TWA Flight 800 has just exploded in midair with 230 souls onboard, and the video camera has recorded the last moments of the doomed airliner.

Five years later the government has declared the crash a result of mechanical failure. But John Corey, an ex-NYPD detective who is now a contract agent with the Federal Anti-Terrorist Task Force, is persuaded by Kate Mayfield, his wife and task force partner, that the case deserves a second look.

Kate, a career FBI agent, plays by the rules. Corey plays by no rules but his own. Against long odds and warnings from their superiors, they set out to reopen the case and discover its most crucial piece of evidence. The hunt will lead to a conspiracy at the highest levels and a race toward an elusive and lethal truth that could be even more horrifying than the crash of Flight 800, one with unimaginable consequences for America...and the world.

ANOTHER EXCELLENT NOVEL BY JOHN GRISHAM

Night Fall was not only well-written, but it was also well-narrated. Interesting twists and turns in this book kept my attention and made it difficult for me to put it down. I'm currently on book number 4 in this series, and I look forward to the other books.

I was riveted...

I got this book because the narrator was rated very highly. And for good reason. This book had me riveted from the first 15 minutes! Fiction, but based on fact made it all that much more interesting.
The ending was nothing like I had expected and I liked that. You won't go wrong with this one.

Night Fall

I always love DeMille for his quick wit, great humor, and terrific story plots, twists, and turns......as evidenced by the Lion's Game. Night Fall does not disappoint. I could not stop listening. The subject matter does not sound interesting but I promise you that you'll agree it is a suspenseful thriller that you won't want to stop listening to.

Great writing!

I discovered DeMille about a year ago and have since listened to everything I could get my hands on. I thoroughly enjoy his writing style, although some might call it slow. The plot of Night Fall can be explained very simply, but in the book DeMille takes us through Corey's thought process and includes great descriptions of everything going on. I can't quite put my finger on exactly what it is that I love about his books, but they just suck you in and I can't stop listening. Plus, Corey has a great sense of humor.

Terrific

Today is the 20th anniversary of the downing of TWA Flight 800. I have listened to the audiobook 3 times and each time the story amazes me. The end always blows me away.

Night Fall

A great John Corey novel. The intermixing of fact and fiction is a bit unnerving. I recommend it.

Make sure you have free time

I volunteered for a lot of driving chores this past week or so -- I even invented chores -- and then I prolonged the driving, just to keep listening to this gripping audiobook.
Combines the thriller style of DeMille's cop books featuring detective John Corey (*Plum Island* & *Lion's Game*) with the you-are-there believability of his last novel, *Up Country*.
A serious book with a serious subject (the crash of Flight 800 off Long Island in '96) -- but with many, very funny lines given to John Corey and his wise-acre cop friends.

Perfect Ending

I bought this book somewhat reluctantly based on other reviews of the ending. For me the ending was perfect. In todays world it could not have ended any other way. I thouroughly enjoyed Scott Bricks performance to me he is John Corey. I listened to the book in two days . I found his plot involving the crash of TWA held my interests with all the various aspects of information from all sides. I remember the historical events in the book and this brought it all back vividly and with emotion

Captivating

Not only is this is an interesting perspective on flight 800 but I enjoy hearing about the familiar sites and roads of Manhattan and Long Island's North Shore.
