John Sandford's acclaimed Prey novels featuring the brilliant Lucas Davenport have plunged millions of readers into the darkest recesses of the criminal mind. Now Lucas has met his match. His newest nemesis is more intelligent, more deadly, than any he has tracked before: a kidnapper, a violator, and a cruel, wanton killer who knows more about mind games than Lucas himself.

A great story but disappointing narration

This was a great story but the narration was characterized by unexplained and unnecessary pregnant pauses. Sandford creates excellent tension with the story line and the pauses by Ferrone are very irritating. He does improve in subsequent books and in general does a very good job. I still enjoyed the book and would recommend it despite the poor narration.

Getting better and better

It was full of suspense from start to finish.
It is quite believable how Davenport is able to be pragmatic about the news people and that they can have a mutually beneficial relationship but both sides understand that their own job is the first priority

Good story, narration needs a little work

Richard Ferrone has a great narrator's voice. I am listening to the series in order. The long breaks, even not at a chapter's end, have become a little frustrating. The breaks seem to be getting longer. The story is good and it is worth a listen. I tried speeding it up a bit but did not care for it. Overall worth the time

One of Preys better books

“Mind Prey” was excellent. This is my 6 or 7th book in the series. And this was much better character development without making Lucas and company seem like masaganistic pigs, more realistic for the character Lucas is. This kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the book. Thanks good read (listen lol audible)
