to Short

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

This was a too quick little story. I could follow the back ground only because I have listened to the whole Outlander series

Has Lord John and the Hellfire Club turned you off from other books in this genre?

NO

What three words best describe Jeff Woodman’s voice?

rich, expressive and clear

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Probably not because it would be too short. If would be fine as a segment in another movie.

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed this story, but it was too short. I am use to longer Diana books and less than 90 minutes barely got the kitchen cleaned.

Quick, engaging mystery

I am always impressed with Ms. Gabaldone's work, and this was certainly up to snuff! My favorite part was... well, literally everything. It is such a short piece that there isn't time for unexciting parts to happen! The narrator's take on voices and inflection was superb.

Another great tale

Diana always tells a good story. These short stories flesh out her characters and tell more of the tale than can fit between the pages of her big books

Good story from a great author

I am a big fan of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series so, when I saw this book, I had to try it. I was not disappointed. The character of Lord John Gray is fascinating and I will be reading more in this series.

Not My Favorite Lord John Event

Would you try another book from Diana Gabaldon and/or Jeff Woodman?

Yes. I've read them all in paperback and am now listening to audible versions. Jeff Woodman is an excellent narrator but I wasn't thrilled with the story. First of all, I don't like short stories and this one wasn't developed enough for my taste.

If you’ve listened to books by Diana Gabaldon before, how does this one compare?

This was a short story. I like Diana's full length books where it has some teeth in it and you can see the characters move through their lives. Lord John didn't live up to his full potential in this one. If it was the only book read, I would not be inclined to pursue other Gabaldon books and would miss out on a great experience.

What does Jeff Woodman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He brings the nuance of the characters.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

I doubt it.

Any additional comments?

Don't make any movies of these books. The audible and text are perfect.

Love all Diana Gabaldon's work

If you could sum up Lord John and the Hellfire Club in three words, what would they be?

Interesting, mysterious, good read

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lord John, I love the stories where he is the main character. It is such a different kind of story from the Claire and Jamie stories...good to break up the point of view.

What does Jeff Woodman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I find the names and places in most of Gabaldon's books difficult and frequently find the dialogue tiresome when reading from print. Love having the words flow so freely and sound so good.
