Couldn't stop listening to this one!

I am a Dean Koontz fan so I was expecting another great tale dancing on the edge of reality. Part time travel, part love story, part mystery, part science fiction and 100% entertaining. I was riveted from the beginning and just had to see what would happen in the next turn of events. Koontz has a way of quickly developing quirky characters without overdoing it and situations that, however unbelievable, we WANT to believe. Storytelling at it's best and I waned the story to go on and on. There are so many wonderful things about this well told fantasy, but I don't want to be a spoiler. If you like mysteries and appreciate letting your imagination wander, you will absolutely love this. I do believe this has been my favorite listen for a very long time. I can't imagine anyone not liking this one

For those with great suspension-of-disbelief skill

Lightning by Dean Koontz is an allegorical time travel thriller. Koontz chips out both his characters and his suspenseful plot as a woodcarver brings a statue from a log of fine wood. Accepting he gives to the scientific community in Nazi Germany requires a well developed skill for suspending belief. The heroine's eight-year-old son seems more a prodigy than a normal kid. His mother also seems more a superhero than mother and author. However, even with these few weaknesses, I give Lightning five stars and recommend you give it a listen.

The dangers of Lightning

very intriguing story about a man from a different era,a different land, who mysteriously travels between time and space to profect the life and future of a woman he falls in love with during his espionage.Changing life for the good or the bad is catch twenty two, since Lauras life from the very beginning has been more heart ache and loss than any one person should endure so young for so long .Meeting Stephen could be a blessing or the ultimate curse.Time line is a bit hard to follow, but the story was read very well, transitioning from characters was flawless for Christoper Lane.Great listen.

Leaning on every word.

What did you love best about Lightning?

Intense and always surprised by the next moment of the story

What was one of the most memorable moments of Lightning?

I think there were many memorable moments in this story

Have you listened to any of Christopher Lane’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was my first Christopher Lane

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I would sit in my car just to listen to this book. I had a hard time turning it off.

Any additional comments?

This was my first Dean Koontz so I was a little leery after being a Harlan Coben fan for so long. I am glad I gave in and tried this book. I loved Dean Koontz's writing and imagination. I will be reading another one of his real soon.

An unexpected find

Where does Lightning rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is one of my favorite audio (and non-audio) books now.
I was surprised.

I love Dean Koontz and went looking for "any ol book" ... I read some reviews and figured what the heck.

This was AWESOME!
Christopher Lane's voice was perfect (and easy to listen to) and the story was excellent.

I remember picking up my first Dean Koontz book back in the day (The Watchers). My fav ... up until Lightning.

If you're on the fence on this download - jump and get it.
you'll love it

A great introduction to the author

This is my first reading of a Koontz novel and it didn't disappoint. It was action packed and full of twists and turns. My daughter is a fledgling author and I am a mother so the main character resonated with me. I liked the time travel concepts especially.

Does not disappoint....

This is only my second Koontz book. My first, The Watchers, I thought was great! .Lightening definitely did not disappoint. It had a great pacing,, good character development, an excellent story line,....and a few surprises I did not see coming.. Koontz knows how to unravel a good story. I don't want to give away anything, but know this book never left me board.

Not impressed

So I have mixed feelings on this book. The story was good in the beginning as it was real life I thought , then it took a twist of not real, time travelers. I mean come on...I hate books of none really things and mystery , so I lost all interest but yet the story kept my attention enough to finish it. Not a bad book but not one I would recommend.

Just okay

It was just an ok story. It was ok but had a hard time finishing it. It was not like some of the other Dean Koontz books I've read. I didn't have a hard time putting it down. I found it myself spacing off during the reading and I don't think I missed much when I did.
