Years later - after another bolt of lightning - the stranger returned, again to save Laura from tragedy. Was he the guardian angel he seemed? The devil in disguise? Or the master of a haunting destiny beyond time and space?

"The paradox in time travel's tampering with history provides an interesting twist in this gripping thriller by a popular writer." (Library Journal)
"Fast paced and satisfying." (People)
Above the rest. The narrator was superb in creating the necessary accents needed to make the story seem OH SO REAL!!
This is my first Koontz book on Audible but I read some of his work many years ago, and have always liked his books. I think I'm going for the Odd Thomas series next.
His narration brings the book to life through the spoken part. He was really 'WUNDERBAR'!!! When he spoke Thelma's lines I really cracked up!! Every charachter had their own inflection that made each one sound so different.
What does the bolt of lightening bring - friend or foe?
I felt I was listening to a cross between Back to the Future and the Terminator with both the funny side but the suspenseful side as well. SO enjoyed this book!!
I am a first time Koontz listener, got the book in one of the specials, and it held me the whole way through the story
Couldn't compare, he is very much an individual writer, that was probably why I enjoyed the book so much
He had a good suite of voices and kept you knowing which character was talking when by the different tones he was able to call upon
No, just enjoyed it, which is why I am writing the review
Maybe the Dean Koontz I thought I knew is not the Dean Koontz that is so widely popular. I enjoyed the previous book I read, ‘The Good Guy”. It was not science fiction. Lightning is a science fiction. I know for a fact that I will have to read reviews better before choosing another book of his to avoid paranormal activity.
This book was just not my cup of tea. I was good with the basic story even the little strangeness here and there and yes, I enjoyed the best ever education in paradoxes for dummies. But, it went from Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants to Traveling Nazi’s looking for Weapons of Mass Destruction overnight and lost me completely. When I see scientific proof of time travel, then I might see a reason to read about chase scenes through the decades.
Its a rhetoric concept with several versions of time travel stories over the years. But Koontz knows how to weave a tale and still manages to keep it moving. Not as much fun as other koontz but well performed .
This book was full of excitement and didn't seem to slow down at all. It was a great story and I enjoyed the narrator as well. Definitely recommend it. I know it's one of Dean Koontz's older books, but if you've never read any of his books before, this is a great place to get hooked.
I am an Australian woman who enjoys reading many different styles of books, from history to sci fi and mystery to poetry.
Another offering from Mr. Kootz and was as expected. The ending was a little soft and it was certainly no surprise. But it was a fun offering. Typical Kootz though, not particularly memorable but good fun whilst it lasts. Sometimes I wonder if Mr Kootz writes to a formula that he has written on a whiteboard in front of him. It sometimes feels that way, as though he has done market research to see what will appeal to his readers.
It's never too late to live happily ever after!
Lightning is one of my favorite books so I was glad to purchase the audiobook and anxious to see if it did justice to this perfect example of speculative fiction. I'm happy to say that Christopher Lane does an excellent job in breathing life into Koontz's words.
I've always been surprised that Spielberg hasn't made a motion picture of Lightning. The story is the perfect blend of the puzzle of a mystery, the relationship of a romance, and the science fiction aspect of a changed future that might occur if the geniuses and the mad men of the world succeed.
Yes, I think I missed things the first time through... when listening instead of reading, there is sometimes a tendency to let your mind wander unfortunately.
The twists that surprised me and the automatic weapons!!!
The different voices for each of the characters was great.
I laughed a lot and teared up a couple of times.
buy it and rate it yourself
I did not like this book. I could not even Finnish the first half of the second chapter ...
