Publisher's summary

Something terrible has happened in the snowbound village of Kingdom Come, Wyoming, where 12 eerily identical houses stand dark and abandoned. Meals remain untouched on dining room tables, cars are still in garages, and the town's residents have vanished into thin air. This is the disturbing setting where vacationing medical examiner Maura Isles and her traveling companions find themselves trapped during a ferocious snowstorm. Thinking they've found a safe haven, they soon realize that they are not alone in the valley....someone is watching.

After one of their party is injured, Maura sets out to find help. But just as she leaves the village, she is attacked and dragged into the woods. A blow falls and the world goes black. Searching for her friend and colleague, police detective Jane Rizzoli's investigation leads her to the abandoned valley and a gruesome discovery. But it turns out Maura's not dead--she's on the run, forced to place her life in the hands of the unlikely savior who has kept her alive until now: a 16-year-old boy.

An enjoying listen

Would you listen to Ice Cold again? Why?

Absolutely would read again. I very much enjoy the Rizzoli and Isles series. I like their character interactions.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

If time permitted I would have listened in one sitting because I wanted to know what was happening next.

disappointing and predictable

Not very original, disappointing and predictable. David Koresh, Jim Jones, Charlie M. meet the politically correct author.

Different from her previous books

This has a different vibe and flow than her previous books and doesn’t quite “fit” but a good addition nonetheless. On to the next in the series.

enjoyed this

I almost didn't listen to this after reading the reviews but I took a chance because I liked Tess Gerritsen's other books in this series. I was glad I did. I enjoyed listening to it and the narrator was good as well.
I am not going to put much stock in bad reviews on audible from now on.

A "page turner!!"

I commute with my sister to work and we and we usually spend the first half of our commute discussing work, etc., before we listen to our book du jour. Not with this book! It was a fast-paced, edge of your seat story. Wow! Don't miss this one!!

Mixed Feelings

Would you try another book from Tess Gerritsen and/or Tanya Eby?

I would definitely try another Gerritsen book but not if Eby is narrator. I have read a number of Gerritsen's books and many of them are at the edges of medical possibility but I like them. I hadn't realized, until I listened to this book, that Gerritsen was the author of the Rizzoli and Isles stories. I was pleasantly surprised to have an audiobook version of this series until I heard the narrator. Oh my. Not good at all.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Seriously? Is this person made of steel? It seemed a bit far-fetched.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Tanya Eby?

Almost anyone else. Tanya Eby is a poor reader with bad inflection and pacing. I like Carolyn McCormick who narrated the Hunger Games.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Turn it into an episode of the Rizzoli and Isles TV show and I'd watch it.

grrr! intelligent people behaving badly, is right!

I read that review and wondered what the reviewer was talking about until I listened to the book. It was a very frustrating listen. The author just needed to keep the story going. So add
Stupid doctors , with whining potential, and red necks who are allowed to roam around willy nilly with guns and no real lawmen or women and you have disaster.

A good read

Not her best book but a fairly good read. The reader's performance was done well. Not one I would read again though.

ICE COLD

Another excellent book! Sat in my car in our diveway listening to and end of a chapter. On the edge of the seat as always, taking turns all of a sudden without prior warning...

Thank you; Tess and thank you audible.
