Publisher's summary

THE FIRST BODY IS A MYSTERY.
She's young. She's beautiful. And her corpse, laid out in the office of Boston medical examiner Cat Novak, betrays no secrets - except for a notebook clutched in one stiff hand, seven numbers scrawled inside.

THE NEXT BODY IS A WARNING.
When a second victim is discovered, Cat begins to fear that a serial killer is stalking the city streets: a shadowy madman without mercy or apparent motive. The police are sceptical. The mayor won't listen. And Cat's chief suspect is one of the city's most prominent citizens.

THE FINAL BODY...MIGHT BE HERS.
With the death toll rising, Cat races to expose a deadly conspiracy and the brutal killer at its heart - a killer who will stalk her from the dangerous streets of the inner city to the corridors of power. Because he's closer than she ever dreamt. And every move she makes could be her very last.

Mystery thriller

As a retired homicide detective, I appreciate the investigation aspect of this book, as well as the corners reports that were done. I had attended many autopsies during my tenure, and was always fascinated by the workings and clues of the autopsy process. I can always picture of my time spent in the corners office in Los Angeles, when Tess Garrison is describing the autopsy procedures. I can appreciate the aspect of the science behind autopsies.

Excellent

Loved it! Her first thriller great beginning I read it a while ago and listen again and it's worth it. It's not like her Rizzoli & Isles serie but a great prelude I would say.

Well done! Believable real characters!

The storytelling flowed naturally, with believable movement through various scenes and circles. The challenge of a new and unknown drug hitting the streets is deadly real.

same old story

What was one of the most memorable moments of Girl Missing?

When Cat jump into the water.

Which character – as performed by Susan Ericksen – was your favorite?

They all were Ms. Ericksen is a good reader to listen to.

Any additional comments?

I read this book when it was first released in the 90s. I was enjoying listening to it until Ms. Ericksen did the main male voice. (the rich guy) after Cat car was stolen. From that point on I felt like I was listening to the murder books from JD Robb. The love story line and the voices were the same.

I have yet to be disappointed by Tess. Susan did a fantastic job as narrator.

Not much for sharing

I fully enjoyed the story, but the narration almost had not wanting to listen to her voice. I endured and felt the story unwind or reveal the sinister going on.

An Early Work by Tess Gerritson

I believe this book has been called the “bridge” between the author’s romance novels and her medical crime thrillers and since I haven’t read any of her romance books but some of the medical thrillers, I’ll have to take it under advisement. What I won’t have to take under advisement is how good this story is. Not only good, but great. It had me hooked from the beginning and I hated to see it end. I also had hoped that there would be a hint of a sequel or next installment with the characters of Kat and Adam but in my investigations I have failed to come across any. Darn. Just when their relationship seems to have a chance of surviving, the book ends. Oh well, now that I’ve finished a medical thriller, it got me wanting more so I’ve started another one by one of my favorite authors, Patricia Cornwell and can’t wait to really get into it. If you enjoy Tess Gerritson and haven’t read Girl Missing you really should give it a try.

Gripping

I was hooked from the beginning. The writing not only kept me captivated, but was descriptive enough where I could envision entitlement happening, and not too much to feel cumbersome to the story. The characters were believable and I didn't see the culprit until it was almost the end. Susan Eriksen did a phenomenal job narrating and is quickly becoming a favorite reader.
