More Laughs than ever!

I read the first 4-5 books long ago. Then began listening to the rest through Audible.
While waiting for Dirty Thirty I decided to go back to the beginning and listen this time.
The narrator means everything. If it isn’t done without authentic
voices, it is distracting .
The first book with Debi Mazar was simple reading without characters. Then CJ Critt took over. Her reading was an improvement, but still problematic. But by book 3and 4 she was all warmed up and fit the characters well. The stories really flowed. There were just two things I had trouble with, Grandma’s voice was so low and rough I kept wondering why she decided to portray her this way. The other distraction were her breaks, way too long. I kept thinking the recording stopped.
C.J. Critt hit her stride with
Four To Score.
The story was detailed as a mystery and the answers weren’t obvious. Janet’s storytelling with these early books is exceptional. The laughs kept coming in simple ways. You could visualize what was sometimes hysterical, very clever word play. Poor Stephanie is resilient, as she mentioned.
I think this book has more sexual activity than any of the 29 books.

I love these stories!

This was a great read and I loved the mystery because it kept me guessing until the end. And so interesting that I read it ( listened to it ) in a day. I highly recommend this book.

The story was lively as usual. The narration was lacking and blah at times; but overall I enjoyed it.
