When you're the best at what you do, it's not always easy to walk away. Nathan McBride was retired. The trained Marine sniper and covert CIA operative had put the violence of his former life behind him. But not anymore. A deep-cover FBI agent has disappeared along with one ton of powerful Semtex explosive, enough to unleash a disaster of international proportions.
The U.S. government has no choice but to coax Nathan out of retirement. He's the only man with the skills necessary to get the job done. But almost as soon as Nathan reluctantly accepts the assignment, he finds himself caught in the middle. On the one side is a ruthless adversary with a blood-chilling plan - and on the other are agents who will stop at nothing to see their own brand of justice done.
Also listen to the sequel, Forced to Kill.

"A high-powered thriller from a magnum-force writer." (David Dun, author of The Black Silent)
There were many, but the torture of Arnie Bridgestone was narrated so well that I got squeamish !!
The story was sort of predictable. There were some twists that were meant to surprise the reader, but one could see them from a mile away. Nothing really surprised me, but the story was not dull, it was action filled and full of well timed humor. The narration was top notch and never missed timing on the jokes. For me the book stands out because of the narration and makes the story feel better. I am happy I bought it.
As far as I'm concerned Andrew Peterson & Dick Hill have produced a spell binding novel that I found very difficult to tear away from. It is very detailed and action filled. This is my first expierence with Andrew Peterson, but not my last. Of course Dick Hill always gets my vote.
Bought this book because it was on a special and of the reviews. Turned out to be a great book !
This book has action, adventure, some sadistic, and a little comic. So, if you want a book that has it all, this is your book. As with most books this author left the story open for a sequel, but as far as I can tell he has not written anything since. And that disappoints me. I also love the narrator, it made this book even more interesting.
Andrew Peterson is an amazing new author that has created a couple characters you can cheer for. There is plenty of action, cool gadgets, and interesting settings. Holly and Nate strike a bit of a love interest which is probably the slowest part of the book and not Peterson's strong point. Nevertheless, there are plenty of other twists and turns that kept me interested. Dick Hill really delivers with the narration.
Loved it from beginning to end. Suspenseful, action packed, plenty of explosive content and the bullets were flying. The brother like relationship between the guys adds to the story. This would make an awesome movie. Great job Mr. Peterson, keep em comin'..
I really liked the book. You learn enough about the main character to understand what drives him.
There's plenty of action and suspense. There's a twist. There's a little romance.
All in all it was a great book!
enjoyed this book..the protagonist was believable given his background and while the ending was a bit flat, it opened the way for a sequal...most characters were weaved well into an absorbing story...
"Jack Reacher rip off"
This book is such a rip off. Lee Child should be told. I found the book poor in every way. I am so anoyed. I wanted to like the book. I could not finish it.
"Poor mans Jack Reacher"
Weak story, characters not beleivable
As you can tell not my book even though I am a huge Lee Childs fan and you would have thought this a similar genre
