Dick Hill is a dinosaur

I really couldn't get beyond Hill's atrocious 'acting'. Will try to read the eBook instead

Exciting Read

My first Nathan McBride novel. Can't wait to start the adventure again with the second. I rate it right up there with Reacher; maybe better even. Dick Hill is my all time favorite narrator and was part of the reason to convince me to listen to Andrew Peterson's novel; any author's novels being read by him is bound to transport the listener to a grand, believable escape. The storyline and characters were well conceived and written.

Kept the focus on the action. Great periods of fast pace kept me listening.

Dick Hill. One of the best! Sorry to say, First to Kill isn’t one of the best. The lead character, Nathan McBride, will remind you of another type A, take no prisoners, kick-ass, fundamentally soft-hearted former military dude. Maybe it’s the fact that Dick Hill narrated First to Kill. If you read primarily via audiobook format, such as I, Connelly’s Jack Reacher is brought to mind. Hill is the voice of Reacher in all of that series, as far as I know.

First to Kill is a thriller, centering on high-level politics and skullduggery covertly pulling our main character into a revenge laced situation. Lot’s of characters to keep track of, a few twists, but the bad-guys are well known throughout. Mild love interest interspersed … just because it’s expected, I guess. Didn’t add anything to the story. A little trouble holding my interest and sadly, I didn’t rewind, just kept moving forward.

What made the experience of listening to First to Kill the most enjoyable?

Excellent suspense thriller - kept me on the edge of my seat! Already bought and downloaded the second book :)

slow start, then intriguing

once past the initial slow start, the story really captivated. The sniper aspects were well written, since I'm not one, I can't guarantee accuracy, but very plausible.

This book starts out with a bang - well, a fight- and the action keeps going in a very well paced, well written and well narrated book.

Have been searching for a new author - this title is just as good as those by Lee Child. Dick Hill is fabulous as always. Can't recommend highly enough. Good mix of adventure/action and character development.
