When you're the best at what you do, it's not always easy to walk away. Nathan McBride was retired. The trained Marine sniper and covert CIA operative had put the violence of his former life behind him. But not anymore. A deep-cover FBI agent has disappeared along with one ton of powerful Semtex explosive, enough to unleash a disaster of international proportions.
The U.S. government has no choice but to coax Nathan out of retirement. He's the only man with the skills necessary to get the job done. But almost as soon as Nathan reluctantly accepts the assignment, he finds himself caught in the middle. On the one side is a ruthless adversary with a blood-chilling plan - and on the other are agents who will stop at nothing to see their own brand of justice done.

"A high-powered thriller from a magnum-force writer." (David Dun, author of The Black Silent)
Wonderful, in the likes of Jack Reacher. It was so much fun to listen to the give and take of Nathan and Harvey. A Great find, I hope Peterson makes this a series. I would certainly recomemend this to anyone who likes a good no holds barred adventure.
This is hard to fathom that this is Andrew Peterson's first foray into the thriller genre. Dick Hill does a great job of bringing all characters to life. Make this a character revelation to look forward to!
suspenseful with great plot. was not familiar with author but will be looking for more from him in future. My favorite narrator of all time is Dick Hill. That was the deciding factor. another terrific job.
enjoyed this book..the protagonist was believable given his background and while the ending was a bit flat, it opened the way for a sequal...most characters were weaved well into an absorbing story...
I love audible books and my husband does not like to read books nor does he listen to audible books on his own. When we travel I try to find books that he will like. My husband was Black Ops so I bought this book thinking he would like it, or if not true, would hate it....Well he really liked the detail and felt that the author did his research.
It takes a lot to impress me, and Andrew Peterson blew me away with this novel. First To Kill is a well plotted, fast paced thriller that I think combines the attention to detail and precision prose of a Lee Child with the story development and character depth of a P.T. Deutermann. Peterson is a one of the gifted: a storyteller. And getting Dick Hill to read this thriller was a total coup! If you like guns blazing, bombs blowing things up and characters you can relate to and root for you should check out "First To Kill".
Good action work. Not the most belivable characters, but still entertaining.
If you like Jack Reacher and Bob Lee Swagger, this is the book for you.
I want more from this author and these characters!
Lots of action!
Impossible to put down.
There were many, but the torture of Arnie Bridgestone was narrated so well that I got squeamish !!
The story was sort of predictable. There were some twists that were meant to surprise the reader, but one could see them from a mile away. Nothing really surprised me, but the story was not dull, it was action filled and full of well timed humor. The narration was top notch and never missed timing on the jokes. For me the book stands out because of the narration and makes the story feel better. I am happy I bought it.
I bought this book on the synopis and the snipet of the audio and really expecting much out of it but was lost in the story by the end of the first chapter. Good descriptive writing, whether it was a room or the action. I am wondering if Nathan can morph into a good strong enduring character Mr. Hill did a bit better job on this book. If he would just slow the pacing of his words a bit and not send them at the listener in harsh rapid fire I would have liked the naration better. I would like to see a second offering from Mr Peterson and Guidall doing the narative.
