Publisher's summary

When you're the best at what you do, it's not always easy to walk away. Nathan McBride was retired. The trained Marine sniper and covert CIA operative had put the violence of his former life behind him. But not anymore. A deep-cover FBI agent has disappeared along with one ton of powerful Semtex explosive, enough to unleash a disaster of international proportions.

The U.S. government has no choice but to coax Nathan out of retirement. He's the only man with the skills necessary to get the job done. But almost as soon as Nathan reluctantly accepts the assignment, he finds himself caught in the middle. On the one side is a ruthless adversary with a blood-chilling plan - and on the other are agents who will stop at nothing to see their own brand of justice done.

Liked the story but ...

The female characters seemed whiny and week. Less than what I would expect from FBI agents.

Well done!

Enjoyed this book very much. Characters were well defined and easy to follow throughout the story, but what happened to the big guy he "punished" in the beginning? I thought for sure he would go to work for him. And the girl he was seeing? Does she just get replaced when a better option comes along? Just seemed like they got left unmentioned.

5 by 5 a thrill

What did you love best about First to Kill?

I enjoy the story line about two buddies seeking to do the right thing in the midst of others seeking the wrong thing.

What was one of the most memorable moments of First to Kill?

The scene in the canyon where they go their separate ways.

What does Dick Hill bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Hill's style of reading/preforming the book leads one deeper into the movie running in my mind. While this happens in reading a book, it is a true joy to hear his tone and inflection embellish a good book.

Any additional comments?

It is always refreshing in our current society to read about two men in a strong relationship, supporting and depending on each other, that doesn't involve sex. Buddies are just that buddies; something we seem to have forgotten along the way in the media and entertainment industry of today.

Not a page turner.

Decent story line but not a compelling read. Does have some action, but would not put it in the "action packed" category.

narrator issues

ok unbelievable story but the chomping of narrator teeth or smacking lips is so distracting

Well put together.

A traditional sniper based tale with hints of a "007" flair. I enjoyed the story in all it's twists & turns. Not every single thread was down up IMHO but the story wasn't meant to be a biography. Recommended to lovers of an action theme with a decent back story.

Dick Hill is great.

Really enjoyed hearing Dick Hill again. He really captured who Nathan McBride was in my head. If you liked Reacher, McBride is a great next character.
