Publisher's summary

Mitch Rapp and his protege, Mike Nash, may have met their match. The CIA has detected and intercepted two terrorist cells, but a third is feared to be on the loose. Led by a dangerous mastermind obsessed with becoming the leader of al-Qaeda, this determined and terrifying group is about to descend on America.

Rapp needs the best on this assignment, and Nash, who has served his government honorably for 16 years first as an officer in the Marine Corps and then as an operative in an elite counterterrorism team run by Rapp is his choice. Together, they have made careers out of meeting violence with extreme violence and have never wavered in the fight against the jihadists and their culture of death. Both have fought the war on terrorism in secret without accolades or acknowledgment of their personal sacrifices. Both have been forced to lie to virtually every single person they care about, and both have soldiered on with the knowledge that their hard work and lethal tactics have saved thousands of lives.

But the political winds have changed in America, and certain leaders on Capitol Hill are pushing to have men like Rapp and Nash put back on a short leash. And then one spring afternoon in Washington, DC, everything changes.

Using his insider knowledge of intelligence agencies and the military, Flynn once again delivers an all-too-real portrayal of a war that is that is waged every day by a handful of brave, devoted souls. Smart, fast-paced, and jaw-droppingly realistic, Extreme Measures is the political thriller of our time.

Mitch Rapp does it again

He has gotten himself into some hot water. Again. How will he get out and still save the US from terrorists. That's what you will find out in Extreme Measures. Very good writing and character development and George Guidall does a great job at narration. All together a pretty good book.

Once again..OUTSTANDING!

Vince Flynn's work is riveting, and sadly prophetic. I can barely wait to read/listen to the next one.

Extreme Measures.

Well written and narrated, though this book was published years ago it is very relevant to these times we find ourselves in today.

Good listen even without the dose of reality

Not surprisingly, many reviewers had difficulty separating their political leanings on the "war on terror" with this work of fiction. I did also but still was able to appreciate the book for the edge-of-your-seat suspense that it provided. How the book ends is not as predictable as I originally thought it would be. I can't say much more than that without creating spoilers. Apart from the terrorism angle, I particularly enjoyed the fallout when Nash's son gets into trouble for beating up one of his friends. It's almost a metaphor for the major plot line of the book. Many will love this book. A few others will hate it. But even the haters will like it if they can ignore their political leanings and just jump into the story. I wish that more loose ends were tied at the conclusion, but I guess that's what sequels are for.

Exreme Measures

Great Listen. All the pinheads and hand wringers should be exposed to the realities of the "torture" issue. Flynn's fiction is more real than what passes for educated thought on Capitol Hill. Brings back the 9/12 memories, instead of the pre-9/11 mindset thast prevails in the mainstream media today. The story feels real and some of characters will seem familiar and frustrating.
