Publisher's summary

A young friend pulls Scotland Yard's Richard Jury into the life - and death - of a wealthy bachelor....

The once-charismatic Billy Maples was last seen in a club named Dust, before his murder in a trendy London hotel. Proving as inscrutable - and challenging - to Jury as the case is the beautiful chief inspecting officer....

Before his death, Maples was a patron of London's finest art galleries and caretaker of author Henry James' house in Rye. It's there where Jury installs Melrose Plant, who takes his job to heart, as Jury closes in on the dark secrets behind Maples' friends and family....

Another winner

Always love the twists and turns of these mysteries. The characters are always interesting and quirky.

ending disappointing

Really enjoyed this up until the end. Martha doesn't tell you who the killer is. And the final tragedy is also a let down Will read the next book just so I can find out how this one ends

Hard To Follow

Would you consider the audio edition of Dust to be better than the print version?

I still don't know who dunnit!

Any additional comments?

Steve West is Jury. Otherwise I would have given up on this one. So many characters and a very convoluted story.

The best!

This book has everything: murder, mystery, World War 2 and Richard Jury getting crazy sexy. Gotta love it… he’s been so lonely!

Intelligent writing, witty, top-notch!

After being disappointed in other authors I had previously liked, I went back to one of Martha Grimes' Richard Jury books--what a difference in class, charm, witticisms, and character development! What a pleasure to read. I'm only sorry that I've read almost all of these books!

A good read!

law-enforcement, murder-investigation, British-detective -----
There may be only one murder investigation, but it's still as convoluted as ever. Plant gets to emulate Henry James in order to investigate part of the victim's life, Jury is ambushed by a barracuda, and World War 2 history invades the present. A very busy book which needs a second reading to catch up with the nuances hiding clues. A good read.

Dust

Martha Grimes is one of my most favorite authors. I'm rereading her and find it most rewarding. She's hard to get into when you read her for the first time, but believe me you will realize she is worth any first misgivings you might have. I recommend beginning with her first Richard Jury novel; "The Man With a Load of Mischief."

Yet another great Richard Jury book

I have read or listened to every one of the Richard Jury books. My only complaint is there just are not enough of them.

Still wonderful!!!!

Its been 15 years, at least since i ready a Richard Jury mystery. I am not even really sure where i left off--- bit, since i have been enjoying so many wonderful audible books, I grabbed this one just to see if the magic was still there! It was! Jury, Melrose, Aunt Agatha... all still as wonderful as ever! Of course, I will be trudging back several books now to see what I jace missed in these beloved character's lives, until I have read them all and am up to date!! Thank you, Martha Grimes--dont stop!!! Thank you, Mr. West --you are exactly what I thought Jury would sound like in my head!
