Editorial reviews

Lisa Scottoline has written her most entertaining novel yet. Featuring newly appointed Federal Court Judge Cate Fante, the novel is a terrific page-turner, and Barbara Rosenblat's performance complements the story wonderfully. Rosenblat is especially effective conveying Cate's emotions and insecurities, which combine to place her in the middle of a murder and other events that arise from a ruling in one her cases. Equally important, Rosenblat captures the personalities and emotions of the novel's many supporting characters, supplying each with a distinct voice and style. Scottoline's fans will enjoy the story and look forward to the next chapter in Judge Fante's tumultuous life.

Publisher's summary

Cate Fante is strong and smart, but when she gets appointed a federal judge, even she wonders if she can do the job justice. She's in her 30s, and she feels like she's joining the world's most exclusive retirement village. But Cate keeps her doubts a secret. And, as it happens, much else. For she leads a dark, double life that she hides from everyone.

Then a high-profile case in her courtroom explodes into a shocking murder-suicide, and it blasts her cover wide open. Overnight, her new career hangs in tatters. But Cate's troubles are only beginning. An enemy no one anticipated sends her running for her life, embarking on a journey that begins in the mystery of her own childhood. She'll have to fight her way back to the truth, or die trying.

Dirty Blonde is Lisa Scottoline's most suspenseful and gripping thriller to date. Mixing poignancy with her trademark wit and wonderfully compelling characters, it questions whether law and justice are always the same thing.

Enjoyed!

I enjoyed listening to this book. It gave relative legal details without overwhelming response the listener. At the beginning there was one predictable scenarios, However, the remainder of the story is unpredictable and has a few unexpected twists towards the end. The narration by Barbara Rosenblat was incomparably impressive with distinctive characterizations as always.

Worth every minute

What a great book ! A very refreshing twist to the "puppy mill" of Good Guy vs. Bad Guy stuff out there lately. Good character developement, great plot(s), colorful writing style. This is sure to be a movie in the near future, so read it now and avoid the rush !

Good story, narrator is a little annoying

I've read a lot of LS and really enjoy her story-telling, but this narrator is gravel-y and just annoying to me. I'm not sure I'll buy anymore with her as the narrator, and unfortunately, she's a frequent choice. All of the newer stand-alone (non-series) LS novels on audible were great though!

Surprised me again.

Lisa Scotoline has given my favorite author, John Grisham, a real upset of sorts. I am always delighted with not knowing the ending ahead of the last chapter. Very enjoyable reading.

One of Lisa Scottoline’s older books, DIRTY BLONDE is interesting enjoy, but not a story I’d revisit.
