Great story and narration

I was pleasantly surprised by this story line. It was engaging, well thought out, and the narration was great.
I appreciated the character development and underlying structure that allowed the story to flow seamlessly. I’m from the south and the accent was well done. I will follow this author and narrator for more of their work.

This was a great introduction to a new series!

Dead Until Dark is the first book in the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris. The Sookie Stackhouse series is also the inspiration for the HBO show, True Blood. Dead Until Dark was a good introduction and first book in the series, I really enjoyed the journey.

Sookie Stackhouse is a waitress in a small town in Louisiana and she's always wanted to meet a vampire because in this world vampires have been exposed and humans and vampires have been trying to co habituate together. Sookie meets her first vampire in Bill, a (confederate) civil war era vampire. Bill is quite taken with Sookie and she is equally taken with him.

The spicy scenes were okay, I'm giving this 3 chilies out out 5 chilies 🌶️🌶️🌶️ worth of spice.

There's a murder mystery mingled in with some paranormal romance and I really enjoyed this book. It was gory, sexy, mysterious, and entertaining. I'm giving this 4 stars out of 5 because I had a lot of fun with this read.

Great narrator

I’ve watched the show countless times and really enjoy it. I actually prefer book Sookie over show Sookie (at least season 1 haha). Really enjoyed the book and starting number 2 now.

A fun listen

I’ve read this series before, and when it popped up on audible I thought “why not!” It’s just such a fun book, and the narrator makes it even better! I love this series - especially in the beginning.

SOOKIE STACKHOUSE SERIES - GREAT!!!

I read this whole series of 13 books many years ago and just listened to the Audible series. I loved it then and I love it even more since I listened on Audible. The narrator was just excellent and made me love the books even more.

I highly recommend the books and the audios.

Better Than True Blood

I never knew Dead Until Dark existed until I saw the series True Blood on HBO. I love True Blood, but must say that Dead Until Dark is better. Dead Until Dark is the story of Sookie Stackhouse; a waitress (who happens to be able read minds), her boyfriend Bill (who happens to be a vampire) and many other interesting characters who live in a small town in Louisiana. The story of Dead Until Dark is told from the perspective of Sookie who lives in a world where vampires have, "come out of the coffin." It is a good vampire story with down home southern flair.

The story is read by Johanna Parker who does a wonderful job telling the story from Sookie's prospective.

The guys were right!

The first book in the series was so much fun! The reader did an excellent job. I had to keep my phone with me everywhere I went to keep the story going. What’s really funny is that all the men that my husband works with recommended this audiobook to him. It just seems ironic that a bunch of “macho’ guys are so excited to see what happens next to Sookie! I’m starting the next book right now!
